Where do you see new Motorcrafts for $185 on ebay? All I see is generic, no name brands for around that price.

I wouldn't bet on those being true Motorcrafts, they have all the Standard and Wells interchange numbers listed. If they were Motorcrafts, who cares about the Standard and Wells part numbers?

You never know though, but there's typically no way you can get brand new 508's for $17 each.

good info guys. looks like mine need checked too.. my car has been falling on its face the past couple of days. i hooked up my tuner to read spark outputs and when i accelerate or go up a hill it bogs and the spark output goes down. shouldnt this number go up? is that my problem then?

does your tuner show misfire counts?
"MISFCNT"
on my car when climbing hills the timing drops down, I'm unsure if that is normal or because my coils weak.

no my check engine light is not on... it will run fine until i have to accelerate or climb a hill. My fuel pump and filter were replaced within 5000 miles, so i dont believe that is it. and my air filter is clean. So im down to cop's or injectors. Does it sound like new cop's will do the trick?

I'm exactly the same as you, no light, idle is fine, only when climbing hills or under high load do I feel the misfire.
I talked to Ford, I have to bring the car in for them to road test with a laptop so they can see which cylinder(s) is misfiring. I ordered new boots so once those come in I'll install them, then goto Ford... so most likely next week.

well i think i got it figured out. I replaced the fuel filter. I havent gone on ne trial runs but idle and rev is already sounding better!

Timing will drop like a rock as load goes up, then it will slowly increase or maintain with rpm increase.

+1 this is by far the best method, and probably what the dealer will do. (or they will just read the codes to look for a misfire code). The timing you see in a datalog is commanded from the ecu and has nothing to do with if the coils are working at all.
I don't think i have ever heard of "weak" coils. They seem to work or they don't. For me no misfire codes = coils are fine. If they hypothetically ever get "weak" you could just close the gap a few thou on the plugs to make up for that.

ok so fail on the fuel filter.. just took it for a drive and it didnt fix the problem. i really dont wanna take it to ford. but im not throwin a code and if i dont no where the problem is comin from then i cant fix it.. ugh.

ne input?

When mine had a few weak coils, the exact symptoms were a studder at low rpms upon acceleration in higher gears. So in 5th at like 1800rpms, if I slightly accelerated, I would get a studder. The coils were the problem in my car. I had no CEL either.

guess i should read the whole thread before buying something lol..****.

btw i suspect i have a bad coil, it stutters at around 2500 rpms just cruising, every once and a while, but up top it runs fine, so im not sure. for $20 a pop i can afford to buy these new ones and if one goes bad ill still keep my old ones i guess.. damn aftermarket
