i have a 93 mustang lx that has a motor swap it now has a 91 5.0 ho and it will not start.. it turns over all day long but will not start up we have checked spark fuel pressure power to the coil and changed out the gas bc the car sat for a while.. and it still wont start.. any ideas thoughts anything please it will help.. o and it will run on starter fluid for like a sec and i replaced the comp like maybe a year ago so i dont think its that.. im so confused!

fuel pump coming on?
Theres a fuel pump shut off switch behind the plasic panel in your hatchback/trunk that shuts off you fuel in case the car gets hit, make sure thats reset. some times if it gets bumped thats all it takes to trip it. also check your fuel pump relay under drivers seat.

You also said that you checked your fuel pressure, how did you do that if the car wont start ?

@ryanw - because the fuel pump primes the line when you turn the ignition on
how much pressure should you have if the fuel pump is just priming the line. my fuel pump was going bad and my gauge didnt show any pressure when priming ,and 16 psi when it was running. my pump is being replaced this week

@ryanw - typically I think its 38 to 40 psi..somebody may correct me but I think thats right. Replacing your fuel pump isn't hard though, I'm pretty inexperienced but I managed to do it without problems
Ya. thanks for the info. my father inlaw is a mechanic at a dealership hes going to take care of it . i have a 6 month old son who only gives me an hour at a time to work on my car. so that means that i dont get to work on it that much. im not a vary good mechanic so it takes me five time longer to do any thing on my car. and at the time i was unsure what was wrong with it and since its already at the shop and they figured it out for me they may as well just finish it. but thanks

So what was the problem? The pump?
Well im guessing the pump. my father inlaw texted my wife and said to order what ever size pump i wanted in it. If there was any other issue i wasnt told about it. I just got the 255lph pump friday, ill be giving it to him tomorrow. ill ask him then if that was the only thing wrong

I checked the pressure by the fuel rail my fuel pump is on a toggle switch so it wouldnt be the relay and the spark plugs were gross and reaked of gas but i changed them out and it still wont start i guess do a compression test now?
