You need to take pressure out of them if the middle is wearing down like that. Just because the tire says Max Pressure = 35psi doesn't mean you should have them at 35 psi. You need to have them where they wear evenly.

What pressure should I have them at then? I just checked the pressure and one was down to 16psi so is that still too much?

if you burn out alot it seems to me that the centers wear out faster on tires too. i run proper pressures and adjust them all the time and my last 2 sets did this cuz i used to fry the tires at almost every stop i made haha.

If you run tires that are too big for the wheels then it will also wear the centers out even if you are running less than normal pressure. Putting a tire on too small a wheel pulls the sidewalls in which in turn lift the outer edges of the tire. You end up with less contact with the road then you would have if you ran a regular size tire. 10 psi might be good for the drag strip but it is dangerous on the road. You could break the bead in a corner and have an instant flat. I had the same problem with my Sumitomo 315s on 10.5" wheel. I was running 25 psi and still wore the centers out.

I never did a single burnout with them.
:eek:The compound in drag radials need to be heated inorder to become sticky. If you don't intend to use them why go to the added expense of having them?

Would V6 wheels work?

:yes

And you could probablly pick a set up for around $50. They make 2 sizes, 15,and 16" rims.

As a matter of fact my 5r's are bald in the center on my 17's, when I do the inspection I will be putting my stock 16's on the rear.

I used the recommended tire size. So you agree that there is no way to stop the centers wearing down?

I used them on the street and they were way better than the G-force sports I had for traction. It was always hot in TX so they usually had some heat. I didn't want to do burnouts in the street and I wanted them to last as long as possible. That doesn't mean I didn't use them though.

Conventional wisdom would say yes, that's still too much if the middle of the tire is wearing out that fast
16psi on a tire like that is stupid, for the time at the track 16psi works, but not driving it everyday.
Damn.. I thought 10psi would be too low though. What do most people use?
it is

My unconventional wisdom told me to run what was recommended for the vehicle, not to divide it by 2 :(
pretty much

yes

I don't know. I put 275s on the 10.5" wheels the last time. I wanted to see how they wore. Perhaps, it isn't possibly to get a good wear pattern out of wide tires.

I only had 245s.. I think the nittos must just wear like that because I kept them underinflated most of the time.
They do. I have had 2 sets and both wear the same way in the center.

Where you at in va? I have a set of tires I could loan you to pass inspection. Even have a guy that will pass you. I'm in radford.

That's about 4 hours from me.. I might be able to pick up some wheels from this guy I found on craigslist who lives just over an hour from me if he still has them
