ok i need to purchase a new clutch so might as well get the whole kit right?? what is a good kit u guys can recommend thats not too expensive but still good and can hole some power? anything else u guys need to know ill happily answer

Biggest issue with buying clutches is that most people want to overclutch the car. Get a clutch that's rated for slightly more than the at-the-flywheel torque that your motor produces. The whole idea is that the clutch SHOULD go before anything more expensive does.

So, first question is how much torque are you making right now?

Second would be how you use the car. A DD is going to have slightly different needs than a dragstrip queen.

AGREE 100%, if you get toostrong of a clutch you will break other parts like i did. I broke my inputshaft ant the track 2 months ago. if you have a mild bolt on car I would honestly do a stock replacement.

I just put a Centerforce clutch in mine a while back..i love it

yeah I have a centerforce DF clutch and pressure plate. I snapped the 10 spline input shaft at the track a while back. right at 400 ftlbs of torque and sticky tires snapped it. now im waiting for my 26 spline input.

thanks alot for the advice i think ur absolutely right i rather have my clutch go out then something else, and i will be around 600hp to the wheels, and my car is a daily driver i comute alot to work and get alot of stop and go traffic because of my work hours, what do u think is my best choice?

im going to keep the 10splint input shaft for now cause im low on $$$ lol but i wont be going to the track mainly use is rolls never dig

i didn't go with a stock clutch because they're just as much...lol so why not get a better clutch for basically the same amount right? haha if i was hittin 600 horsepower i'd go with something besides the stock one...i like my centerforce:)

Most of the guys on here will usually tell you what clutch they are running and recommend it, if they have not had problems with it. What are your mods? don't buy more clutch than you need..

Ram
Spec
centerforce
FRPP

Those are the most popular, you will get mixed reviews on any of them..

mod: fully built engine, procharger d1, i should be at 600hp when i dyno in acouple of weeks, but since im putting in the motor i might as well change my clutch so i dont pay labor twice

Being it's a daily driver, you need to keep engagement in mind. That means you definitely want a sprung-hub, and you probably don't want a multi-puck clutch unless that's the only way to get the torque rating you need.

I think for every good known brand out there, there's someone that swears by them, and someone that swears at them. I've currently got a RAM in my 5.0, and I had a Maccleod in my Cobra, and I wouldn't say anything bad against either of them. I also never have made much over stock hp in either car, and I don't drag race, so I'm not someone to really say how much abuse a clutch can take (the only abuse my clutches see is due to me being crappy with my footwork, lol).

any places that are cheaper than american muscle? i checl leather performance and summit racing but there more expensive

You might look at Late Model Resto, when I got my clutch their price plus shipping was right in line with AM's with free shipping.

And, yeah, either replace your flywheel or get yours resurfaced. Aluminum is light, but expensive; steel is strong, but heavy; nodular iron is cheap and sits in between aluminum and steel weightwise.

I like my centerforce DF and the customer service is excellent! i havent delt with others too much. But When i broke my 10spline input they were happy to work with me on getting a 26 spline replacement disc. I have heard of good things about spec but like stated before there always good and bad experiences.

i'd check with Summit and see if they've got it any cheaper...i got mine for a little less there but every little bit helps

I just got my spec stage 1 clutch and spec billet flywheel. I'm not FI so I don't need the stage 2, but I've heard good things about spec and their flywheels.
