Alright guys I have a question about upgrading my TR-3650. After my tune I'm hoping to have around 285/310 WHP/WTQ N/A and roughly about 430/550 WHP/WTQ on the spray. I want to leave on the bottle with slicks without worrying about my trans. What would you do if you were me?
1- Send my trans off to someone to have a 26 spline upgraded input shaft put on
2- Send off to get 26 spline shaft and have the gears temperature treated
3- Buy the built TR-3650 ment to hold 750 HP off of promotionpowertrain.com for $2,9xx dollars and forget about all my worries, but then have to worry about my bank account.
I don't want a T-56 bc I want a direct swap and I could have the 750HP TR-3650 for the cash it would take to get a full T-56 swap and they are only rated to 450 TQ anyways. Need some help guys, thans Baz....

bottom line is no matter what you do with a manual trans, you will break it along with plenty of other parts of your car till you wise up & put an auto trans in (you'll be faster with the auto anyway).
if you want to go to the track regularly with 400 + rwhp, look around at what sucessful people are running at that power level & it may help you make a decision.

if you do go with a manual, don't believe your worries are over with a 2900 built trans, what about the ckutch, rear end, driveshaft, etc? didn't even mention missing shifts & bending/breaking stuff there either.

that said, good luck with your choice.

Yes I know everhing else needs attention and anything can break and autos are faster but I'm asking about my Manuel Transmission only.

I have to agree with Casper. I was in a pretty similar position and you guys all know what I decided to do. You can do a full auto swap for $1500-2000 that will hold all the power you plan to make with that car. I would definitely roll that around before making your decision.

If you decide that you absolutely want to keep a manual for whatever reason, then I'd just upgrade the input shaft and start saving your pennies for all the other parts on your car that you will be breaking in the near future if you plan to race that car at that power level on slicks and with a manual gearbox.

sorry bro, you wouln't find many hardcore drag guys that aren't gonna tell you the same thing.
best thing I can tell you is spend some time at your local track with the test & tune kids & see what their recomendations are.

what other drivetrain/rear mods do you have? clutch?

oh & I'm not randomly busting your balls, you asked for opinions from those who know & have been there, sorry you don't like the answers.

I figured it was some sort of inside joke, but I couldn't help make a joke about busting parts after the spec stage 3+ recommendation ;)
yeah, slow02gt's cool, just misguided on the stick thing, so I gotta try & keep on him.....................:D

31 Spline Rear Diff, Moser's, 3.73, Torque Box reinforcers, and axle tubes welded up. Still need to address the Trans, U-Joints, LCA's, UPA's, driveshaft, flywheel, 8.8in rear end brace, and cluth. I respect the fact you guys love Auto's for their results but I bought my car as a pleasure vechile to have fun in, I would not have as much fun if it were an auto. I know some ppl like thereal2V2fear have good results with the stock trans and others like Willy and F8L have had thiers take a crap on them. So I'm thinking I will need more than just an input shaft.
