I haven't found much support on this topic. I've been having some trouble running/idling rough, with sort of a scratchy sound upon acceleration. Some proper have recommended seafoam to me, but I'm pretty new to the stuff and I don't really know how to use it. Does anyone have a link to a good instructional video for using it on the s197?

What you need:

-1 can of Seafoam
-Empty cup
-New oil + filter

What to do:

-Pop your hood and start your car

-Pour 1/3 of the Seafoam into the empty cup

-Running from each valve cover you should see a hose running to the intake manifold (PCV lines)

-Pick on of the PCV lines and remove it from the valve cover (if you put your finger over the open end of the hose there should be vacuum)

-Put the end of the PCV line just above the Seafoam in the cup (until it starts sucking it up)

-Keep moving the hose down with the Seafoam until the cup is empty (don't try to put too much in at once or you'll stall the vehicle)

-When the cup is empty, reattach the PCV line and shut off the car

-Remove the oil fill cap

-Pour 1/3 of the Seafoam into the valve cover via the oil fill hole

-Put the oil fill cap back on and close the hood

-Open your gas cap and put the remaining Seafoam into the gas tank

-Close the gas cap

-Wait 10-15 minutes

-Start the car up and let it idle for a minute (go check out your smoking exhaust if you'd like)

-Take your car for a little drive to burn up the Seafoam (some people like to rev the engine way up, it's not necessary unless you want more attention than the smoke show is already getting)

-Take your vehicle home

-Change your oil (leaving the Seafoam in the engine too long will cause it to eat away at gaskets and seals. Sharkbait says you should be alright for up to 2 weeks, but I like getting it out of there asap)

And there you have it, you've Seafoamed your vehicle :D

yeah i've done it to gas/oil definitely helps. But I can't get that damn rubber tube off of the brake line on the drivers side for nothin and i can't find anyone to help me take it off either so i haven't done the intakes yet =( and i really want to >_<

I left mine in for a few days and drove about 100miles or so give or take 10 miles. Just to make sure the seafoam got everything it could, then i engine flushed the oil. You'll definitely feel a difference when you do that. Make a video!!!! It's hard to find a good video these days on this because everywhere I go someone is talking about pulling a "pcv line" but ppl always mention different locations.

PCV stands for positive crankcase ventilation. You'll find one on each valve cover. They run to either the upper intake manifold or sometimes the air intake tube.

Yeah i have heard of it alot but never used or none any one who has used it... Does it help performance wise or more so for there longevity of they life
Both. It breaks down the carbon that is building up inside your engine thus keeping your engine running stronger, longer.

So would you guys recommend using the PCV lines (pics please?) Or the brake booster line? I've heard both.
PCV. I don't have pics (don't personally own an S197) but look for a line that runs from your upper intake to a valve cover.

Dam nice HOW TO. I wish you were there 2 years ago before I used 1 bottle for the engine and one for the PCV line. I think its time for another round of seafoam. This time ill use 1 BOTTLE for all 3 compartments :no

Okay, I tried twice with the pcv line, removing it from the valve cover, but as soon as it was removed the car would stall. So I tried the brake booster line and couldn't get it off, then it broke. So now I have to go get a new one. What am I doing wrong???

Okay, so while im pulling off the pcv, a friend needs to keep on the gas. Ill give it a shot. Dealer had to order a break booster hose, so the stangs out of commission til saturday :(

Is there a throttle cable you can move by hand on the tb. That is great stuff. It does exactly what it says it will do. Sharkbait has a how to video in the stickies in the 99-04 forum. My truck has 250 k and it runs as hood now as new but before I did the seafoam it was idling choppy and hesitating. Great stuff
