The bolt is fine. The thread inside the cam is bad and needs re-threaded.

Ahh. My bad. I misread.

How is the bolt ok if the threads are bad inside? They are kinda hard to get off, they have to hold back a LOT of pressure. Don't mistake this for bad threads. If you are SURE though, tap it with the same size (5/8") or the next size up if its really bad (11/16" I believe?), same thread count, same 2 inch deep hole.
 
my guess would be the used a puller that is supposed to push on the crank and if you dont get the end piece right on the puller it can mess up the threads inside the crankshaft

We filed the bolt to where it should be. And the thread inside was already bad because the bolt came out sideways.

But thank you for the size! Do you have any idea where I could find one?

A tap? Sadly, no. My dad is a CNC machinist and he has a bunch of taps that he "borrowed" from his shop.

finally ****ing found one. I'll post pictures when we get it back on tonight i hope.
