Larry, you feel something tuggin on your nuts lol ;)
Your teeth lmao. That was more general than personal thats why I agreed to it. It seems as many 2v owners would just nut to the sight of a 4v and trade their life for it. Someone with knowledge and years of car experience needed to say it and he did so it was agreed to.

I know pimpin' I was just gettin back atcha. Its all good.

I gotcha somebody just needed to say it bc it gets old. 4v praise and 2v hate that is.

I hear you, problem with all the b/s that most of these guys don't do their own work & pretty much none of them go to the track, so the whole car world to them is the internet, dyno numbers & looks, they don't have a clue about what it really takes to run a number/etc.

thats why if you do go to the track & look around you'll see a strange absense of not only 4v cars, but blower cars as well.

I myself dont track the crap out of mine I only have 43 passes that comes from test & tune nights. But you will see like 40 or so cars out there but when you leave the track and pass by the hangout spot like 15miles away there will be well over 80 cars in the parking lot at target just hanging around and benchracing and doing burnouts for the girls I have never seen half of those cars at the track period. Its kinda like posing in my eyes.

I hear you on that, it's so bad around here that we have one guy that goes to our local track on opening day, not to run his car but to just join points so he gets the sticker to put on his car at cruise nights.

needless to say when any of us show up (which isn't often as I can't stand the cruise guys mentality) he makes up an excuse to go home all of a sudden.

lol thats sad. H e just needs to get the balls track it and hope not to lose it and hit hte wall. Its a good feeling when the heart races when you are next for staging.

I've never been so adrenaline jacked in my life before..its awesome sitting there being the next person up!

go for it OP..i love mine. i wouldn't mind having a cammed ls1 down the road...but i wouldnt get rid of my gt for it. i feel at home in the mustang. and you can throw a cheap little supercharger on the stock motor with some bolt ons and tires and run 11's

The only other thing that gave me a sane, self imposed rush like that is riding crotch rockets. But it is a rush when you are the next up but there is a calm that comes over you when you are staging.

with a o/r midpipe,cat back, and intake I put down 231rwhp and 268rwtq.

I went 14.308 at 98mph with a catback and intake

I then went 13.87 at 98mph with the addition of a o/r midpipe and 4:10s with a SCT tune(not dyno)

this is an auto.

Going from the LS1 world to the GT world will require a little change in how you think about improving motors. The 281 is a little motor. It has a 3.55" bore that is so small the valves are partially shrouded. It was almost 10 years before someone could develop a 2v head better than a stock PI head that was port and polished. And there is still disagreement on whether its better or not. Before that even slight increases in valve size (Patriot Stage III) required the motor to be bored .020" over. That is why Ford developed 3 and 4 valve heads. The 281 is also a fairly efficient motor from the factory. Typical bolt on improvements, like intake and headers, that see large horsepower gains on other motors give limited gains on a 2v 4.6.

But, with a little change in thinking, its easy to get 380-400rwhp out of these motors. Just add a power adder to a completely stock motor. These are fairly stout motors. People bemoan the weak cast rods and pistons, but they easily hold 80% more horsepower than stock (225 x 1.8 = 405) with a good tune. There are people that run double the stock horsepower but most of us on the forum believe they are ticking timebombs. It takes a world class tuner and a perfect tune to do it. The truth is if you want the motor to last then don't get greedy.

You're trading your LS1 because of its high 143,000 miles. At that mileage the 4.6 is just getting broken in.

:yes

as far as beating up on 2v's & how everyone wants to slobber all over 4v's is overrated.

most of the guys crying about h/p never go to the track anyway so whats the point of 500+ h/p?

bottom line is that you'll have no problem getting a 2v N/A car deep into the 11's & how much faster do you really need to go?

This is where its at :yes

And I give the OP a few months of getting raped by ls's before he A) f/i the stang (which is the only way to go with 2v really) B) drop an ls in the stang and get the best of both worlds

Yea thats right... I said it :tomato

I can agree with that, but I know a lot of track guys wont agree with that. And I understand why. Most dedicated track guys dont care about power, they just worried about their ET. People that arent dedicated track people like both. Not looking for every bit of horsepower, nor the very best ET. But people that drive on the street more then the track would rather go boost (most people) because its the easiest way to make power.
