Adjustables are nice because you can change between street and track setting with a couple clicks. Problem buying used ones is that shocks wear out, so you don't know how much life is left in them when you buy.

I never ran my DBX untuned so I have no idea what the truth is to that. I also got the 8" powerstack filter they had to put on the end of the meter. Regardless, whatever filter you buy, it has to have a 4" opening if you do the 97MM MAF. Also get the 4" powerpipe if that's what you were planning if you do the 97MM. The elbow to the TB has a reducer so you can run it with smaller TB's with the 4" pipe with no problem. If you're going to spend the money, I would go with the 97MM dbx and a 4" powerpipe.
Where do I get the filter? I was looking on the anderson site and found the meter and the harness adapter. I am also probably going to order the quarterhorse this week. Where to I get the wire to go into the mass air and then into the computer? And what else would I need for this maf.

I was planning on picking up this 2007 mustang 31 spline diff for my car. Will it fit? Then getting some aftermarket 31 splines along with 4.10 gears. I am also looking at a detroit true trac differential, but I believe it is only 28 spline.

Ford Mustang Ranger F-150 8.8" 31 Spline 3.55 Rear Diff - eBay (item 280637544894 end time Mar-30-11 20:21:55 PDT)

NEW FORD 8.8 DETROIT TRUE TRAC LOCKER POSI 28spl LX GT - eBay (item 120703407723 end time Apr-01-11 14:39:00 PDT)

Otherwise I'm just planning on getting some superior 28 spline axles with the stock diff. if that will be safe enough. I plan on 5000 rpm launches, 3100 lb race weight, mickey thompson radials (stock rim tire size)

In my opinion, i think you shouldn't worry about any thing else but the engine and all the other little things your going to need to make it run right. Once your cars back on the road then start thinking about different rear end gears, axels ect....

Your going to end up nickel and dimming your self to death and you may not leave your self with enough money to get the car running. Every time you address one particular system shortcoming, it will just lead you to another one, and the list will be never ending. Just remember you need to have some extra cash set a side for some unforeseen problems.

Yeah I know dude. I just wanna try and get some suspension and maybe some axles in while I'm at school so I can use the lifts we have and my teacher's advice on installing parts. We have summer break coming up and then I wanna beat on it and race it at the track. I know what you're saying about keeping an eye on my budget and I have been pricing all the stuff along the way and I am pretty sure I will be able to cover it. I just don't wanna go out beating on my car and then it breaks over summer. I wanna try and have everything in my budget on the car before we get out on break.

Haha I was gonna run my stock axles, but I'm gonna have some money left over and don't wanna risk blowing an axle while I'm beating on it especially with drag radials because I read those are harder on your axles than slicks right?

Here is the link to the filters page. I have the 8" long filter with the 4" neck. If you do the 97mm that's what you'll want.

That link you posted for the harness is all you'll need. It adapts the MAF to the stock MAF wiring.

If you get that MAF, you'll need a 4" intake pipe. I got the 4" powerpipe on mine. http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=362&category_id=184&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

Up to you. 31 splines are stronger, no doubt. And that locker will hold up to more abuse than the posi-lok system will. But I personally wouldn't waste the money. Some good Moser 28 splines and c-clip eliminators will be all you need at your power level. If you plan on going hardcore down the road sometime then it's always best to buy once, but there's guys in the 9's on stock 8.8 rear ends with the factory traction lock systems and some good clipless axles. That locker would be better than the stock 31 spline diff, but it will probably chirp the tires around corners like almost every locker I've seen.

Do I have to post the video of matts car running 10's with a stock rear end, on a 150 shot, with a 4600 rpm stall?

your rearend will be fine, 8.8's are VERY tough. eliminate wheel hop with a good set of control arms, shocks/struts, and you will be fine for quite a while.

Alright thanks guys. I was hesitant after reading a bunch of posts of guys saying they break their axles with stock power, 5k launches, drag radials, etc. If anything I'll just get some 28 splines. I am changing the gears anyway so I mite as well do it while I'm in there right

Whatever you do, get c-clip eliminators and c-clip eliminator axles. If the c-clip breaks, there's nothing to hold the axle in the car anymore and it will walk it's way right out of the axle tubing and leave you with a 3 wheel'd car going down the track.

I have heard two stories about c clip eliminators. Sometimes they leak and sometimes they don't. This is gonna be my DD so there will be alot of turning and such that might disturb the eliminators?

I wouldn't be safe with just c clip axles? I mean I'm probably only gonna be pushing like 320 rwhp?

Is the c clip eliminator install hard?

I might as well get them if the install isn't too hard and the leaking is just a myth.

Well I just priced it out and this is if I decide not go with stock axles. I may just install the 4.10s and leave the stock axles. I'm just contemplating if I should do everything while I'm in there.

28 spline
- moser axles $250
- c clip eliminators $150

31 spline
- superior axles $225
- new 31 spline trac lock $250

The 31 spline route would only be $75 more? I think I would only go 28 spline if I went c clip style then it would be cheaper and more reasonable

I think that if I went 31 spline they would be overkill for my power level and I wouldn't need c clip eliminators because the chances of them breaking are slimmer. What do you all think? I may just end up staying on stock axles, but if I upgrade, 31 spline just seems like a better deal and safer for 5k launches and radials.

Man, I'm just thinking drop 225 on some superior 28 splines with c clips and launch my **** at 5k like theres no tomarrow with no second thoughts.

plenty of places build kits that I find are a good price once you price EVERYTHING into it, I.E parts, labor, shipping for seperate parts.

or like you said, get some gears, maybe have the tubes welded with a brace, and eliminate wheel hop with some suspension mods, and it will live for a LONG time, even racing it.
