As you may know, Im trying to figure out if I want to go F/I or stay N/A. Well, Im going F/I. What is a safe limit on power with stock bottom end? I know Brenspeed is a big name, so I figure if Im going to do it, do it right. Thinking the stage 2 Saleen kit, installed by Brenspeed. Opinions.

depends all on the tune and supporting mods, 500 wheel motor is about all you can squeeze out with some meth

Well im lookin for 400rwhp, but dont want to be limited at that. Im thinking very seriously about calling them up monday, get all details. I assume it will work with an auto?

will work with an auto yes, get a good stall and have shift points adjusted.

you should alsways contact the tuner and see what he sugests

you'll be more than safe with their stage 2 kit, its rated for 500 flywheel horsepower so you will be over your 400rwhp base you'd like to start at and theres plenty of room for u to go. plenty of guys on here runnin low 500's for rwhp, just need a good tune and you should have no worries. keep us posted if ya get it!

Since 500 rear wheel on one machine can be 400 on another, be very suspicious of dyno numbers. They can be misleading and unreliable.

^ very true steven. one dyno can read 500 and another may read 460. you never know. numbers will vary even on the same exact dyno due to weather conditions or how hot your car may have gotten from one pull to the next. you should really shoot for the best tune not a certain number. of course it's always nice to get a higher number, but if the tune isn't right on with those 500+ rwhp #'s then you could very easily go boom.

example: nasty is getting 52_ to the wheels (iirc) w/ a vmp roush tvs sc'er with a 3.25 pulley (i think). this doesn't mean you will get the same numbers if you have the same exact setup. you may get 480 with the same mods.

It is something a mate of mine and myself experienced first hand. Both turbo cars, although running at quite different boost levels. Both dynoed (base pulls, no tuning) on same dynojet on different days. Then both cars on different days were dynoed (again just pulls, no tuning) on the same mustangdyno ..... and both cars showed the same 20% drop in rwhp. The power was unchanged, just the dynosheet read the 20% drop.

Then you should have asked the operater if they had any change in programing. And on turbo cars if you went on a cool day then back on a hot day then you would both see the exact same loss. If you use a dyno use the same dyno everytime. Make sure they don't change things like correction factors and such. I have used the same dyno eveytime for all my cars and it has only varied less then 1% hp and that it usualy due to the change in the da's.

Your right but those things will only effect a cars hp alittle bit. Heat will effect it much more and more frequently.

Those two dynos are known for the large disparity in rwhp numbers. That particular mustangdyno provides a more accurate prediction of performance at the strip. There are also quite a few that get tuned on that mustangdyno, then run up the road a ways to get the higher bragging numbers on the jet.

Then you should have asked the operater if they had any change in programing.
That makes no sense at all, given we went from one machine type to another, each with a different operator.

I have used the same dyno eveytime for all my cars
That does make sense if you trust that dyno and its operator.

One thing for sure, my viper will never go near a dynomachine nor dragstrip.

I didn't see that you changed dyno's all together. A mustang dyno always reads lower than a dynojet. The dyno i use is a mustang dyno. i don't care about having a dyno queen which is why i always use the same dyno. I'm more of a "did it make my car faster at the track" person.

A mustang dyno always reads lower than a dynojet
I was expecting maybe a 7% or even 10% drop, but 20% surprised both of us

i don't care about having a dyno queen
Rather my mustang be a track king (not quite there yet), than dynoqueen. I don't mention rwhp in my sig, mostly because I don't know what it is. I could guess or use one those ET/HP calculators, I suppose. The tuner and builder don't dwell on that number much. Other measurements seem much more important to them. What car achieves consistently at the strip tells the whole story.

But like frequently mentioned, not everybody is into abusing their nice stang at a strip or track, and you can't blame them.

Yeah i only post my numbers because i know them. My TA isn't tuned yet so it has yet to see a dyno. I don't blame people for not wanting to tear their cars up. But i hate when people think their car is faster then someone elses when they've never had it at the track to be able to even say that.

I beleive my mind is made up on the Saleen supercharger and having it all installed at Brenspeed. Just got to get everything ironed out, get all my ducks in a row, schedule time off work and schedule install date everything.
