I just want to throw in my 2 cents. I once asked the same question you asked, and got back the same "gears, exhaust, tunner" answer, and i got all that stuff and was not impressed with any of it. I strongly wished i would have just saved up and bought that 4.2 to start with, i reccomend you do the same. But if you dont want to spend that much, i am currently in the process of porting and polishing my heads, and intake, and getting a new cam, and should be done in less than a week. I am hoping this will make a larger improvement than my previous mods, and i will make a post on it when i finish to let you along with everyone else know of my results. I suggest you wait and read that post and consider it in your options of upgrades.
ive yet to hear or see anyone not impressed with 3.73 and deffinitly not 4.10s
as for a tune, i seriously doubt you got a dyno tune on your car.
anyway
look at it this way for your mods...if you want a s/c or turbo get that NOW!
IMO this is wat made me choose turbo before 4.2L
you get the 4.2L its nice, beating stock GT depending on your motor evne lightly modded ones
you then get your s/c or turbo and supporting mods boost 20psi and thats it...from there you have no more fun
get your s/c or turbo NOW. have fun with it at 4 psi, then upgrade your fuel have fun with it at 5-10psi. then when you got money get the 4.2L and have more fun
its like going straight from 9th grade to 12th grade in 1year you have fun for 1year instead of 4 years
i'll have fun for a 3-4month with 4psi maybe 5-6 then have fun with 10psi for longer
as for my opinion to the choice on turbo or s/c
if you not aiming for over 400rwhp
the s/c is a better way to go
much easier to deal with, and kits come with much more, and are more "full".
ive had to make a list so i dont forget wat i need to order...and i think im still missing one part...i'll find out in 2-3weeks
