ABSOLUTELY QUIETER. Even if you just take the stock one and jam it on there then throw the dust cover it will stop the sound from resonating so bad up into the shifter handle. Or buy the MGW one and its a little better. I've ran both and honestly the stock one was enough. Try it out you will be amazed even though it doesnt fit around it like it should just dropping in on there help to keep dust out of the shifter and it WILL quiet it up considerably. You will be amazed. This goes for all shifters. All your hearing is the shifting having sort of a tuning fork effect.

Ive put the stock one back on both my cars with my mgw and its still pretty noisy, like i said its not bad and id never change it, love the mgw, turn the music up alittle and cant hear it but when cruising quiet i hear it pretty good, could be im just listening for it so it seems louder lol

I can't beleive you guys are complaining about shifter noise..

Most of the people on this site are running off road midpipes and straight through designed mufflers.

Maybe I'm late to respond, but one of my friends had the pro 50, i got the triax, and our other friend, got the MGW and all in all after i played and felt all i still preferred mine. i agree out of the box i didn't like the height of the triax but i took my dremel knocked it down 1" -1 1/2 off the threads to lower my shift knob, re threaded and used my stock shift handle/knob what ever you'd like to call it. I absolutely love the triax over any other shifter and probably wont switch to any other unless there is evidence that the one I'm going to buy is for sure better than the one i have. I like the 1-2 click feel of the shifts cause for "power shifting" or whatever you name it when your at the strip it seems 1 smooth shift though with the adrenaline i power through my shifts. With regular casual daily driving I kind of enjoy the feel of a 1-2 shift don't know why somewhat relaxing somewhat ... ego knowing I'm shifting and not driving an auto, shift sequences still same speed or faster than stock 3650 or manual and definitely noticeable by ear. I almost cant describe it to make it make sense but triax is the one I'm staying with behind my 4.6 and my 5.4 never miss a shift now on the stock **** third use to be a big PITA like there was a brick wall that you had to drop down below but guess the height magically sometimes it'd be at this height sometimes it'd be at other height. .. to the OP if you haven't had any annoyances indiscretions or complaints i wouldn't worry about wasting the money on another shifter. BTW my shift i don't have extra gaskets/boots besides the rubber gasket that is below the 4 bolts under the trim and shift boot. There is a possibility its a little louder than stock or others but all in all i don't notice cause the windows are always down and i enjoy most of every noise sound my car makes.

I dont mind loud exhaust, cams, blower and other misc. I mind gear noise and the sound of parts wearing out lol.

My exhaust and blower are loud enough now that I cant hear anything anyways anymore. Including anything the passenger ever says.

What noises ate you guys referring too? I can't hear much but my exhaust and trans when my helmets on

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using AutoGuide App

the only noise i can think of that others are refering to, which since i assumed i associated with, is the shift the 1-2 is what i hear like clicks of the gear shift going into gear but i dont mind it not troublesome or bothering to me.

The noise I was referring to is when I am in 5th gear for some reason it is just loud. Don't really know how to describe it tho.

In my experience, the noise is extra sound transmitted into the cabin from deleting the shift lever bushing. Without it, there's metal-to-metal contact between the shifter base and the shift lever, so it carries the tranny noises better into the cabin. It's why the tri-ax comes with that little rubber gasket-looking thing to put between the handle and the base.

yeah thats the same noise im referring to, 5th gear, im pretty sure its like reverenddexter said, just sound transmitting through the metal to metal contact of the mgw, cause when im in neutral its fine, in gear cruising i can hear it. but like i said its not a big deal, just picky lol
