So there has been a massive debate going on in my head for the last week. I love my car, but the new boss 302 is everything i want plus a warranty. To make my car where i would want it is going to cost easily another 6 to 10K. The boss i could pick up a go. Not to mention it sounds just a good IMO.

I also have looked into the option of keeping the gt and getting the boss too. But that just sounds expensive and likely is worse that my better estimates. I have a year to decide but i want to hear some of your thoughts. The boss would see open track and some autox time (if i got rid of the GT). Note that once i get back, i have about a 65% chance i will be moving out of state.

The only place the new boss will be competitive is going to be ESP if you want to autocross it, unless you wany to throw some serious money and go to a higher prep level. The stock category they are in is far too difficult for it to be a serious competitor. The boss also has some very lack luster options for colors which doesn't interest me (I want my race yellow with black demmit!).

I would keep your GT and mod it instead. Insurance will be cheaper, you have less car payments to make to pay it off, or it is already. It is lighter to an extent but you do have the trade off of having an uninteresting interior. If your GT wasn't modded the way you have it, I would say boss all day everyday, boo to the quadrabind, but you have torque arm goodness! I also think, still, that the boss and new 5.0s have too much power for autocross and are more oriented to open track duty. Or require some seriously wide rubber to keep the power to the ground.

I dunno, I call it a toss up. Your GT is far from stock and could probably hang very well with the new boss, but you do have worse creature comforts... I dunno, go both and DD the boss and race the GT fully. You can still race the boss, but you'll yave a dedicated track toy with the GT. :)

The point of the boss is not to mod it, aside from the LS stuff like the spoiler, back seat delete, and x brace. I love the red and competition orange. Its main purpose is for open track, but i figured i can give the m3 guys hell on the autox too.:D I like the idea of keeping both, but cost is going to be a huge deciding factor.

i decided im buying s spec miata and keeping mine for a show car so i can work on the looks now. i dont give a crap about my performance motrowise but suspension if i find a good deal im still upgrading it. id love a whole boss 302 but i guess we will just have to deal with the motor for one :sorry
i do agree to wiskey in every extent. and when youre ready for power just put one of these in and use the throttle body to tune youre power down. they make it so the computer will only open the throttle body so much for each tune. its pretty cool.

So, a day after going to VIR i realized i really do want a boss, but keeping the GT is now been bumped up. It performed amazing. Wish my gopro had worked, i would of had funny video of my buddy tailgating a lambo. Never thought i would say this but a lambo slowed us down.

Cant say ive tailgted a lambo but porches (with a6 hoosiers) vetts and the occasional ferrari have slowed me down. Just immagine the potential of youre car with 50k dumped in it.

I'm not surprised that a super expensive car slowed you down. I think folks in expensive cars are very cautious about the limits of the car. Either they are affraid to go over the edge or the car scares them at the limit, or they are affraid to damage something or lose the car. Us Mustang owners have far less invested, even though I bet our cars represent a larger portion of our assets and income than someone with the high end euro cars, so we are less affraid to approach the limits because we are not affraid of, and may even be used to, the feeling of being at or over the limits.

I have to admit, the prospect of tracking my stang frightens the living crap out of me, but I will gladly autocross it until the tires come off of it. I fully realize both are very safe, but open track is far more dangerous then cone dodging! Not to mention the mistakes and even just the parts required, can be very expensive.

Don't even tempt me. I am getting a boss, but this car will be the track whore. I can beat up on it and it won't care. She actually seemed to like it at speed. I just couldn't keep up in the straights worth a damn. Def. gonna get some new seats and the tub k member to lighten the load. After that it will just be a waiting game till the motor blows out.:D

I say keep the car you've got based on the modifications you've already made. It's probably paid for, insurance is cheaper, and parts are still very plentiful for them. What class is your mustang currently in?

If I were trying to find a new mustang to run in the stock category and be competitive, it would be a shelby GT. Personally, I don't think the S197's should be in the same stock category as SN-95's, but that's just me.

Depending on what class you're shooting for, an all aluminum motor 4V would help with weight reduction as well power.

New Shelby > Boss
hes going to be running it at the track not going in a strait line. the gt500 only has power over the 302 but the 302 has weight, suspension, decent power, racing interior, track key, stiffer frame and so much more. that and hes not going to blow his motor up on a roadcourse like he would with a supercharged car.

After running it at VIR i have lost the desire to sell it. Also doesn't help someone got some darn good pictures of my car at the last autox. Everytime i look at them i feel bad for thinking about it.

I want the boss because its a damn good car and awesome for use on open track (where it would be used and belongs). I considered 4V but i want to keep the 2V in this car and see how good you can make them.

New Shelby > Boss
For power yes, for price not so much. I don't want to deploy for 2 years just to buy a car. 1 is okay.

he said something about autox his car and open track the 302. he could also run 2 classes depending on his regions rules
This, but i liked how the GT handled, so the GT may end up being my track/autox whore and the boss for running stock rules. IDK right now. Thats the point of this tread. People provide input and i make my decision before i get back.

what ever u do,

u need 1. the DD (my lil Escort GT)
2. the race car (my 89 5.0 GT)

(new cars suck) bank owns em till u pay the bank 1
2 full insurance till u pay the bank
3 forget about working on that kind of car (no room, a million sensorsmoney money money)
4 the 2011 MUSTANG IS THE LARGEST mustang ever made!
plus they are getting heavier and heavier! how do those leather heated seats feel? when my POS 2,500 fox eats u up

hmm what else.... o ! parts are much more expensive, which equals labor is must more expensive

imo ur race car should be the one with a couple of scratches and dents, F it! its a race car (like my fox)

if anything the boss would be your DD (cuz its a prom queen, panty dropper) turn the GT into a porche eating beast

F driving a boss in the snow or rain soooo

go buy a 2nd gen Ford Escort GT :)

Nope, i live by Ft. Bragg.

Update: Over the last week/2 weeks, i have been running numbers and stuff like that. I can't justify a 500 car payment. So more than likely the boss is out of the equation. With that said, the GT is 1500 from being payed off. So now my decision is this, what do i want to do with the motor? I am debating between built n/a 2v or built n/a 4v or 5.0 coyote swap. What do yall think is the better choice?
