I just paid 8900$ for my wifes 2004 GT 40th Aniv.... It is fully loaded, 5spd with 77k on the clock... And its BONE stock as well... Talked em down from 10,995...

Just saying theres some deals out there... But 90k on a 2003 for 8900$ is a bit much... I would offer 7500-8k and go from there... Dont be afraid to hurt a dealers feelings and print out other cars from Autotrader that are cheaper and take it down and rub it in there face.

I was looking at 2 here, a 40th Anniversary GT with 76k on it for $8,000 and a 2002 GT with 78k for $7,300. That's a bit high for the mileage. I ended up going with the 2002.

I would ask why it has 6-banger side "scoops" and no GT emblem on the rear panel?

Turned out to be a rebuilt, he's lookin at a full boltt on 04 GT with 53k miles auto tranny for $10k. Tryin to talk him into an 03 Mach 1 with 68k miles for 12,500k. :) hopefully he gets the Mach but the gt ain't bad either, agreed Mach is easily $3k+ more car?

purchased my 2000 mustang gt premium leather pristine condition 5800$ with 94k miles, Southern California, prices probably do vary a little depending on where you live.

The price seems a little high for the mileage on that car.

Price is high cause out here the 99-04 gts are like 8000$ for a mint condition one with 40-50k something with 80-100k would sell in the 5-6 k range maybe cause mustangs are a dime a dozen out in Phoenix where you can drive it all year long and if you have a 2005 BMW you look poor lol:If you were closer to me I'd show you mine it's def not gone stock but it almost was when I got it and I did almost off the mods myself I'm looking to maybe upgrade to a 4v cobra or Mach. Wish I could get the termi those are the granddaddy of them all except maybe the new 2011-2012 gt and boss 302 other than those I'd have a termi over almost and stang.

you get what you pay for!

and yes the mach is worth an extra 3k for sure (in my opinion, considering it is in GOOD condition)

I don't think the mach is worth $3k extra for the same year and condition as a GT. I'm no Mach expert, but other than a few cosmetics isn't the main difference you get 3 valve heads instead of 2 valves? Aren't the bottom ends and the rest of the drive train the same? Regarding the prices of used GT's, I'd tell your friend to be patient and do a lot of looking. I spent about 4 months looking for mine, and got a rocking deal on an E-bay listing. If he's willing to travel to get it he'll have a lot more options. There's tons of them out there. Personally I'd look for one from a southern state as they are so much cleaner underneath.

The mach is a 4v not a 3v. Also the auto has a beefier trans and they also top out around 320hp or so compared to the gt's 260. I believe the mach also has upgraded brakes. Right now there is an 01 Cobra on ebay with 34k on it for 10 grand.

Yes Mach and cobras have 4v heads they flow much better than 2v the 2005-2010 have the 3v and I think the 99/01 cobra have a forged crank and the Mach has the exact same internals as the gt. also the 99/01 cobra motor is an aluminum one where the gt is iron. There are also differences between the gt s as well from 99-04. 99-00 have Windsor heads while 01-04 have Romeos also the water pump was changed a bit in 01 to a shorter or longer bolt forget exactly and the crank flywheel bolt number changed as well as the size of the clutch from 8-6 bolt and 10.5-11". Also I think the 01 up have a t-3650 and the 99-00 have a t-45 tranny. Pretty much both are the same in power and strength but just some things to know when buying 99-04 gts
