Hey guys i'm looking to get my first car pretty quick here. I live in town and don't have the hang of driving a stick. So i'll most likely be getting an auto. I really like the look of the classic mustangs over most of the new ones but the lack of performance in most of them is just kind of a turn off. I want something pretty quick but still good for a starter car. I live in 91355(zip code) if that helps any of you guys. That is if you feel like throwing a link my way. I'm looking at about 15k max. Something that will last a while, and something that will be able to show up some of my friends on the road. I know that doesn't sound so great for a starting driver but, i'm a teenager, we all have that same urge for speed.

Yeah i know i can get one of those and both are decent cars, but i'm trying to decide if i want power or looks more. I love the look of the First era stangs, these new age ones just don't catch my eye as much. Especially the 99-04 bodies. I actually found an 02 SC'd GT for about 16k and i've been thinking about that one for a while. Can i get an old stang with decent power for 15 or not?

you can always get a decent one and mod it.

classics in good condition aren't cheap.

most people don't mod classics.
they restore them. it you want to look good cruising.. buy a nice classic..

if you want to toast your friends.. buy newer.

if you want both buy a classic and slap a pair of hair driers on her

if you are looking at mustang coupes

for 15k you can get one that will blow the doors off any newer mustang

but a fastback is gonna run you at least 20k

Yeah i can sit and look through cars, but are there any sites or places i should be looking to find a nice classic in california?

Any links or suggestions would be appreciated, i don't expect someone to find a car for me, just point me in the right direction. I love mustangs and i have told everyone i know, that if i don't get a mustang i would almost rather not drive.

Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Cali, New Mexico - anywhere in the southwest is generally going to yeild the least rusted cars. Just google it and you can find dozens of sites with cars for sale. Check ebay too and don't be afraid to contact the seller and talk with them. I bought my 68 Fastback after seeing it on ebay. It didn't hit his reserve but I was in contact with him and after the auction ended we came to an agreement on the price.

Ok well i went on auto traders classic cars counter part and took a look and found a few in my price range. Here are two that i liked, i'm living with my mom and sister so the guys on this forum are the ones that are going to be helping me pick a good one. I'm not the most car savvy and don't exactly know if i'm getting the best deal. So any help is most appreciated. THank you for your help so far.

Good thought but i don't know how well that one will fly over with my mother. We do know some people who could teach me to drive a stick though. He ever taken to get a dyno, or do you know how much HP/TQ its putting out.

Ahhh then that might just work, but i just don't know about the manual tranny. I don't want to end up wrecking a clutch, i would be learning stick on this car. Thanks a lot for that post.
Don't be afraid fo the manual. It would only take a few days to get used to it, and the old autos aren't like todays autos. They robbed some major power over the manuals. My white car had a 351W with an auto, and the blue one has a 351W with a 4 speed, and there's night and day difference between the two.
