Ok so I was changing the bad lifter in the car today that was causing the knock i marked the cam and put it back on with the right mark on cam gear and chain. Put everything back on and started the car up and it ran fine for a few seconds i reved it up real quick to see if it was gonna knock and it didnt then the whole motor just stalled out and will not start! i love these motors but this used motor is starting to really piss me off!!! I checked the connections and everything seems fine but i will double check again here in a few after i calm down. i am getting 8 different codes. P0171, P0174, P0354, P0720, P0722, P1000, P2195, P0297. The 171 and 174 is running lean. the 354 which is my #4 cylinder cop, the 720 and 722 is transmission but think i know that issue. The 1000 is the computer not done loading, and 2195 and 2197 is a lot of options but the 2195 and 2197 has always been on the car even with my old motor. so prolly the 02 sensors... But why will the car not start???? turns over fine but will not fire up after it stalled...

Hmmm. Why did you remove the chain to do lash adjusters? You know that you can line up both timing marks and have the cam 180 out, ask me how I know.

It will run, but it'll run like ****, and you'll get all kind of COP faults and lean codes on your passenger bank.

ha ha yea i know but not real sure just took it out and dropped it back in place i checked all the adjusters while it was out and put everything back together started it up and ran like a charm for a minute no knock i reved it up from the TB one good time then it just died...when i had the valved cover off i rotated the crank with a ratchet it a cple of times to see the play in the adjusters i prolly threw it out of time who knows but anyways damn thing wont start but turns over all day long... i checked the fuses again and all are good including inside the car. i checked all the coil packs to make sure they all had voltage along with the fuel regulator and the injectors and all have voltage. i however have not checked the fuel cut off switch but it just accured to me its a possibility but i do hear the fuel pump cut on so im not sure...

...when i had the valved cover off i rotated the crank with a ratchet it a cple of times ...
Ten to one that's where you messed up. I bet if you take both of your valve covers off and bring it to TDC, both of your cams will be on the same event. I just had this happen to me a few weeks ago when I was putting together my new engine. It's very easy to do unfortunately.

yea figured as much i hate timing these damn motors, but i do love the power they put out ! but hell i would think with car off and just the valve cover off and rotate the crank to see how the lifters lift with cam and everything still in this was before i took cam out and fingernailed the cam gear and chain put it all back together lined the marks up the same and started it right up and it just stalled out like it did run out of fuel...

well just tried to reset the fuel cut off switch and changed the fuel regulator and i have fuel for sure but still wont start looks like im gonna have a job ahead of me tomorrow but whats gonna suck is i do all that work and nothing is wrong with the timing...

If you hold your foot to the floor on the gas it should start up then run, but it'll run like crap because it'll only be running on 4 cylinders if your cam is 180 out.

edit: the holding your foot to the floor is just to get it started. once it starts let it idle.

now i will say this i failed to mention.... when i did start it it and reved it up i did hear a pop before it died... i wonder if something happened with the chain tensioner or something else? unfortunatly i only have the plastic chain tensioners and the plastic yellow chain guides. I do have 2 sets of both though. So hopefully when i tear it down tomorrow and inspect everything be a pretty simple fix but way my luck is i doubt it very seriously...

It was a higher pitched pop not a boom so i think the motor is ok just something gave and motor wont start now because of it. funny thing is my belt is worn out so need a new one of them and a piece of it sharded off and hit me in the head as it popped.

Yup, the pop is excess fuel from the cam being 180 out. I'm almost positive that's what you did.

problem is i do not have a timing tool set i always used tims and hes in bama so im gonna have to do this by myself no special timing tool so research is gonna be needed...

No, it's easy as long as you haven't taken the cam gear off. Do what I said and remove both valve covers. Bring the crank to top dead center. If the number 1 cylinder (passenger side front) and the number 6 cylinder (driver side 2nd from the front) both have the intake valve about to open (cams at the same position), then your cam is 180 off. Just pull the chain off the passenger cam, rotate the crank 360 degrees, and reinstall the chain with the marks lined up.

If you don't understand, PM me your number and I will call you and explain it better

figures something stupid! my wrench fell and hit the wiring harness and pulled the crank sensor harness out..... smh! This is my luck lol

**** YEAH!!!!!!!! At least it was something simple. Now, the lesson to take away from this is put your tools away before starting the car next time.
