Just did mine this morning. Fill it with 3.2 quarts. For me, it was easier to fill through the shifter opening. Filling through the fill hole on the transmission was just to cramped and sucks when your working on your back.

I used mobile 1 syn ATF, there's lots of debate on what fluids to use... How'd you decide to use RP?

I used RP in my car when on my first fluid swap. Never had any problems but I did notice a lot more heat coming from the shifter area in the cab of the car while driving. Just felt noticeably hotter. Excessive heat can't be good. Freaked me out so I had a shop switch it out to Amsoil. Amsoil was so smooth when shifting and the heat I felt from the tranny when it had RP was noticeably lower. I'd stick with Amsoil but it's not readily available as mobile 1.

your 3650 will take 3.2 quarts. If you ordered 4 quarts, go take a measuring cup or something and pour 6oz. into it from one bottle. Take out your bottom drain plug and drain the trans. While its draining remove your shifter. Once its done draining pour the remaining fluid from the opened bottle you took the 6oz from and pour it in and let it run out the drain. Just to get anything out that you can to make sure all clean fluid is going in. Once that is done a drained replace your plug. The pour in three qts. and the 60z. Re-install shifter.
If you dont have one, i HIGHLY recommend a shifter gasket from Cobrabob. Google it. 15 bucks and it really quiets it down. Great piece. Do it all together and you'll save some time and upgrade all at once.

When putting the drain plug back in, do we just screw it back in, we dont need to add anything to the threads?

I'd take RP back. It's over priced hype & it's not the great of quality. I wouldn't use any of there fluis especially their motor oil. There was a thread awhile back about guys horror stories using RP. I'd choose Motorcraft, Mobile 1, or Amsoil.

Nope. Just screw it back in.

All bs. I ran it in my trans for 4 years without an issue. The shop I use puts it in all their trannys that they do clutches on or just fluid changes on unless the customer brings his own fluid.

all the reviews i see say that royal purple syncromax makes your tranny shift smoother and run cooler. Ill probably give it a go, its only like 13 a quart.

Care to link the thread?

I use RP and my tranny is working great with over 400ftlb goin through it.

When should trans fluid be changed? i have 96k on my 3650 and have never changed it :dunce:
You should change it. I think the Ford manual says 100k, but i would never use any fluid for that many miles.
