The pins on the rear brake pads.. are they supposed to be press together and pulled up through the caliper slot on the back of it or are you supposed to just throw the caliper on top of them?

and they come in contact with the caliper when i put the caliper back on.. they made it somewhat difficult to put the caliper back on was why I was wondering if theyre supposed to be pushed together and slipped through the caliper slot

ooh. i dont know the "engineered" reason for them, but id say they are to kinda put tension on the pad to keep it from lifting upwards (from the rotor up to the caliper) So if they were a little difficult to put on ,sounds right. Least in the pic they look right.
