I have a Mother's Powercone and have used it on my painted rims. It works well, and I was curious to see if it could work on my factory body paint as well... My car needs some paint correction, but at this time i don't have money for a porter cable, or a polisher of any kind.
So I was wondering if I could use the Powercone on actual body paint without damaging/burning my paint.
Here is the drill I am using with the Powercone

I can send you Mothers Powerball4paint man if you send me the cash to ship it to you Ill send it out man. Jim from Mothers was nice enough to send it to me to test out but I havent been able to use it yet. I am sure he would appreciate it if you used it and did a review on it for him on here. I can also send you some Mothers Pro Foam pad polish to use with it, but you would just have to be willing to post some before and after pics for me on here to show him. You basically would get the items for free and that powerball is made to use on the paint:)

Tommy,

We don't recommend the red power tools, including the PowerCone, for body paint as it's a bit too abrasive. As you'd quickly find out, it really wouldn't be easy to use as well because you're trying to angle the cone on a large flat surface.

The PowerBall 4Paint is completely safe. It's made of baby-soft foam and you run at low RPMs. No chance for heat buildup or swirls or scratching.

Keep in mind because the foam is so soft, it has limited abilities to do correction, but it is a very handy and speedy cleaner wax applicator. You can also use it with multi-step processes you'd normally apply by hand, but just much faster.

At what rpm would you run it at?

About 350-500 max, which is full-trigger in low speed range on most cordless drills.

The biggest reason for not running faster is that product will sling and make a mess.

I'll let you know in the shipping this week man
