The cylinder in front of the damaged one looks fine, and the area around the lifter valley looks good. My guess is the operator was at 110%+ and found the limit.

Yes but a good synthetic like Amsoil, not like Mobil 1 which is no longer a true full synthetic.
+1 on this. I decided to sell Amsoil because I believe in their product. Trust me when I say I make nearly nothing on every sale.

I need to do mine soon and I'm afraid after reading this thread, to use anything outside of the 5w20 thats recommended. Anyone ever used Rotella?
Rotella has a great additive package for break in, beyond that, do Amsoil or Royal Purple.

Cool, thanks for the information, I definitely wanna use the best stuff from the gate.
PM me for the best possible price on Amsoil if you're interested.

Because they make money on Motorcraft stuff. That's why they recommend it.

Wix (Napa Gold is also a Wix product), Amsoil Ea and Motorcraft filters will never give any issues...ever.

There's others that I'm not naming that I'd never use though.

Motorcraft doesn't offer full synthetic oil. It's common knowledge that conventional oil isn't worth much. Why the hell would you blend it when that shortens the life and protection capabilities? Look at oil analysis tests. Motorcraft does OK but other full synthetics outperform significantly.

The aviation industry uses synthetic oil for many reasons. If it's good enough for aviation and the FAA, it's good enough for my car.

I'm guessing you all dont recommend fram oilFilters(even though I got the one that cost $9.00, that's the only one Walmart had in stock??)--I feel vastly uninformed & ignorant...like newbies do.
Fram are some of the worst. As was stated earlier, Napa Gold/Wix are top tier filters.

Well your an amsoil dealer so you must know more about oil then everyone else on here.

Honestly it doesnt matter when i tear apart an engine that is brand new that had a defect since day one or a tired 250k mille 4.6, 5.4, 6.4, 6.0, 7.3, 2.2, 2.0, 5.0. When its a component failure everything goes to **** doesnt matter if your running amsoil or motorcraft oil. Its all about keeping up with your maintenance schedule.

True that!!!!^^^^^

Fram IMO is the worst thing you can ever put in your car. I once put a fram filter in my old S2000 cause I was in Korea and they had nothing else, it had so many oil pressure issues, CELs, etc.. Once my replacement filter arrived, i swapped it out and all my problems went away. Fram is straight garbage and I never recommend a fram filter. Shoot, the motorcraft costs the same or less than the fram, why not stick with that?

know what happens when you assume stuff right?

every component failure isnt because of a lubrication issue. if you never have a failure then using a good lubricant is going to make a difference in overall longevity of the engines life.

maintenance schedule has a great deal to do with longevity but it doesn't matter if youre using a shitty product from the get go.

Also notice that in my post i didn't promote Amsoil. i promoted full synthetic being.better than conventional. i sell Amsoil at dealer cost so i couldnt give a **** less about selling tons of it.

How much oil do these 5.0s require? My 2010 SS takes 8 quarts. Yeah.... 8 quarts of full synthetic. That's $50 just for the oil. My filter usually runs just short of $10.
8 quarts.

Well since it seems like we have made this into a motorcraft vs amsoil thread now, how is motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend a shitty product? Don't say you didnt mean motorcraft oil was a shitty oil since it is the only one i was talking about.

And since you are an amsoil dealer, what are the differences between amsoil full syn and motorcraft full syn?

You are an amsoil dealer that sells it at cost i suppose you are not a technican by trade, i will just assume something again that i have a little bit more experience with component failure due to service intervals not being met along with "crappy products" being used.

You would really have no idea how many times i talk to customers about there amsoil that they are not told they have to change as often as conventional oil, then there trucks are towed in and have some sort of failure.
