Which would you guys recommend? I have always used Mobil 1 in other cars, but having reading nagative things about it lately.
I read through that forum a while back. Got more confysed the longer i read. They overcomplicate oil to a new level
Get a synthetic at your local Walmart. Most places don't sell Royal Purple and if down a quart, easy to pick up Mobil 1.Which would you guys recommend? I have always used Mobil 1 in other cars, but having reading nagative things about it lately.
Mobile 1 is to overpriced for being a almost full syn oil. Royal Purple is good but their are better oils for that price out there. Redline or Amsoil
I actually use NAPA Syn on my car because its actually Valvoline Syn. Half the cost and works just as good.
There are articles floating around the net you can search for and read. But basically government regulations allow companies to label their oil as synthetic if it meets certain guidlines even if it is not a true 100% synthetic. Mobil1 is one of those companies. There are very few that are true synthetics. Last time I looked (which had been awhile) Royal Purple and Amsoil are about your only options for a 'true' synthetic.what do you mean by mobil 1 being "a almost full synthetic oil"?
Well Mobil 1 is not 100% synthetic. Hasn't been for a long time now.what do you mean by mobil 1 being "a almost full synthetic oil"?
Regarding Amsoil are you looking for an extended change interval? If not then OE series is just fine for you. The main difference in the different levels of Amsoil is that they're formulated differently for longer change intervals.Do you guys who run Amsoil just use the standard 5W20 or like their high performance version or what? Just bought some RP today, but not doing the change until Monday, so will go exchange it for the cheaper standard Amsoil. Looking at like $45 vs about $58 for the RP I bought. Thoughts???
You'd be more than fine with OE series.Looking for a once a year oil, but I only put about 4k miles a year on my car, so it's more longevity than actual usage. Would the OE series be okay for that?
I ran 10w30 in my 4.6L 3V making 530 rwhp for more protection. Not to mention the 4.6L 3V was designed to run 5w30. Regardless that's kind irrelevant here... I'm running the Amsoil 5w20 Signature Series oil in my 5.0L in my F150 right now.Do you guys who run Amsoil just use the standard 5W20 or like their high performance version or what? This, 5W30 is what I will be using when I change oil this or next week. The entire modular line was designed around 5W30. The change to 5W20 was done to eek out fuel economy for CAFE standards and is adequate for most daily driver cars but if you are spirited at all (and how couldn't you be), it has been said time and time again, that 5W30 is a better oil to chose as that is what the engine was designed around to deal with the added stress. For you 5.0 guys, I'm not sure what would be better though. =\I ran 10w30 in my 4.6L 3V making 530 rwhp for more protection. Not to mention the 4.6L 3V was designed to run 5w30.
