i have a K&N filter(drop in) and i took it out yesterday, cleaned and reoiled it and i have to say my car actually runs better. im not saying its faster its just the engine seems smoother, way smoother. is this what normally happens when you clean it(first time cleaning since i bought the car 10k ago) or did i accidentally fix something while cleaning it lol. just wondering, nothing was broken either im just wondering. also how often should i clean this cuz now i wanna clean it often lol
i noticed my car sounds much better after a fresh cleaning

i hardly go over 2.3k rpm so i dont even realize what my car sounds like until once in a while i step on it n go damn lol

I use dryflow filters so no need to worry about oiling or overoiling. Just remove, blow out with compressed air or rinse with water, let dry, and reinstall. I currently have a AEM dryflow (BF) Brute Force filter which is very thick as it is used in dirt track applications. I drive the car year round and the filter sits right in the bumper. I just bought a AEM dryflow DK filter that looks like a regular oilable filter. It should flow better than the thick pleated brute force and still provide great filtration for all weather daily driving.

Just and fyi, K&N bought out AEM so they are one company. My filter says K&N on a medal rod that runs the length of the pleats from the outside and AEM on the bottom rubber end cap.

had to super glue it and send pics to K&n for the damn seals being loose lol

AFE is mostly a truck brand (at least you don't hear much about them on Mustang forums), I use one of these on my F150, and the one I have is an oiled filter. It has a concave inner surface for even more air flow than the conical K&Ns that most of us use on Mustangs. They have a shitload of filters, so getting one to fit any intake is likely possible.
