Best sounding exhaust muffler for 5.0?

Hello guys

I just heard my mustang yesterday for my tuner and I have headers and a hope pipe with dynomax exhaust. Sounds horrible. Can you suggest a muffler that gives that classic mustang sound.

Is it flowmaster ? Mac ? Etc etc

Please let me know.

Muffler sound changes from car to car depending on the HP level. I put FRPP shorties, MAC off-road X-pipe, Flowmaster 3 chamber cat back on my stock 157hp 82 Capir RS 5.0 and it was so quiet you could barley hear it. Then I swapped the motor out for a 89 5.0 w/ TW 170's, Comp XE266HR cam, Performer RPM air gap, 650 Quick Fuel carb, etc.(probably close to 360-370 hp) with the exact same exhaust and it sounds like a totally different car. Way louder at every RPM and really screams at WOT!

+1 Both of my foxes sound different and completely different loudness, rumble and drone with the same exact Flowmaster cat back setup. One car is built up, the other stock. on that note...

Just took off an in perfect shape FM cat back sytem on one of them. I rarely drive the freaking car but couldn't take it anymore. My son hates it now and says it's too quiet but when he is telling me that while we are in the car cruising in 5th at 2k, I can at least hear him saying it.

Lol...

true about different engines sounding different with the same exhaust. Just got my car started with the 427 big bore... sounds way different than the old 359 cube windsor. Much deeper and more frightening. Made the neighbor kids cry and run home.

Sound is all about opinion. What sounds good to you may sound like **** to me. But i do agree that the more powerful and free flowing the engine, the louder the exhaust is going to be.

I put on flowmaster super 10s on my stock engine so that the sound would be loud with running a catted x pipe. I liked it..... now that my strokers in, i think its too loud. Im thinking of going back to original 40s

I bought a Borla S-type catback used for $700. It is by far the best sounding exhaust for the 2011-2013 5.0 The gt500 also sound nice. I thought about buying gt500 mufflers and then getting the resonators removed and then getting an x-pipe installed to simulate the loudness and the smoothness of the borla s-type. People just dont understand that you cannot make the new 5.0 loud without being raspy unless you have the right mufflers AND an x-pipe (preferably catted)

I just put bbk long tube headers and bbk hi flo catted h pipe and American thunder cat back with super 44 flow masters and I'm in love nice idle not to loud but noticeable and when you hit the throttle it's loud and aggresive but at cruise its not obnoxious just a nice rumble. My car is basically stock 88 5.0.

My car had dumped flowmasters when I got it and the interior resination was pretty bad. Just went with some generic turbos from Carquest, still dumped, and behind BBK long tubes and H pipe and it sounds really nice in my opinion, and I can hear the radio if I so choose.

on a side note I had lontube hookers,o/r x ,and flow 40s..then said they are way over used.

so with new motor. same headers and x. but with spintech pro streets.:)

Well I liked the way your car sounded Superman... Side note I hear ya with the Wife beater .. rock out big sexy.. ha ha...brave soul, you!!! posted in wrong section and rocking the beater..
