I would stay away from it personally. It could be a simple fix or just a sign of future issues with it.

I don't see what the hating on the 2V is for though, I prefer the sounds of the 2V and 4Vs over most others but not just that, it doesn't sound like he's trying to buy into a 1/4 mile pounding car anyway. If he wants a 2V and thats his budget, let him get it.

Spot on! It sounds like th op knows what he is looking for and a drag car and a dyno king isn't it. It sounds like he is looking for a decently priced 2v.

It might kill me waiting for winter because Im stuck driving a 94 geo tracker. I think prices in my area are higher than most for some reason I there really arnt that many for sale. If the guy fixes the valves and sells it for $6,500 would that change things?

I've never even heard if a 70k 2v that needa New valves... why Dowd. I feel like this Car has been neglected and abused. Wait got another one. Widen your search radious. spending a couple hundred on gas for the right deal/Car is worth it imo

OP just hunt around and find another 2v out there. They shouldn't be hard to come by even if you have to travel just a lil bit out of your local area. .

Agreed. Just hit craigslist OP and try to search the nearby cities even if its 100miles away. That $20++ in gas may get you a damn good car vs just checking the local area.

my '02 lightly LIGHTLY smokes (white) when I pull away after idle'n at a light for a while. It immediately goes away though, with no trace of it afterwards.
Not loosing coolant, oil looks good.
Started happening when I threw in an O/R X = no cats.

I hear it's common with O/R mid pipes. I honestly wonder what it is, cause I live in FL and in the heat it still does it - so it's not moisture/condensation. I figure it's normal for o/r pipes.... ?..... I drive mine with enthusiasm,,till it kersplodes!

I have owned both... i know what it takes to get a 2v into the 11s and a fox into the 11s...
its really not that expensive if you just get boost... and you can always do suspension and juice

but i will admit that if you want a faster car, a 4v or a fox is the way to go...

HOWEVER, the interior in the fox compared to the 2v or 4v blows

If you just want fancy interior, the S197 is the stop for you. Due to the difference in airflow from the 2V to the 3V coupled with the mid-mounted mufflers on the new edge platform vs rear mounted on the S197, the 2Vs have a sound closer to classic muscle than mine. When mine is paid off, I'm buying a second car and its going to be a 99-04.
