Greetings, I am Perry (P-Funk) serving in the military in the Fort Hood, Texas area. Two years ago, I fell in love with the Mustang after test driving the 2011; the dealer manager gave me the keys after I informed him that my intention was to purchase the (then) beloved Challenger SRT8. After almost breaking my neck in the brembo package model, my mustang dreams began.

For good measure, I test drove the SRT8 and Camaro to find that it was not to style of ride that I was for. While deployed I ordered a 2012 mustang that was fully loaded with glass ceiling, brembo, louvers, NAV... You name it (except for the unavailable Shaker Pro which was not available for order set up).

I then got cold feet due to several reasons to include 1. Concerns that I would go out of control!, 2. Could not make deception on Boss or waiting tell 50th anniversary model, and perception of being greedy. Instead, I ordered a F150 ecoboost (fully loaded). The dreams would not go away!

After a year of ownership, I sought for and bought a 2013 mustang with the track pack but no NAV. However, I am happy to have the Important stuff.

I use to hate Mustangs because of the unstableness that they use to have years ago. Who would own such a thing? -right? Now, with all of the improvements that Ford has made, I am glade to be a proud owner of this Ameircan heritage and can't wait to upgrade her.

My wife thinks I'm crazy but I know she loves the car!

My greatest concerns will be how to modify certain aspects of my Mustang without comprimising the warranty is there is such a possibility.

I look forward to engaging and learning from each of our interactions.

Welcome!

And to answer your question about parts that won't void the warranty, it all depends on what you want to do. That would be a good starting point. I have a full exhaust on my car and it only voided the warranty on the exhaust, naturally. So if that's what you were goin for, you're safe. A tune can safely be used because you can return it to stock when getting warranty work done.

Lethal, I don't think that I am going to go no further than the Axle on my mufflers at this point - I am itching for the SLP Loudmouths right now. I think my very next upgrade will be the MGW shifter (approximately) 6 months down the road. The MGW is the interesting mod because it may affect the entire tranny. However, this may be the one modification that I sacrifice...

Though the Boss 302 manifold and Air Raid CAI looks great, I am trying to avoid clearly voiding my warranty and/or using a Tune at this point. I am fearful of the upgrades that may result to other required modifications as a result of my engine's reaction.

Welcome to mm :wave

Post up some pictures!
Here is the best that I can do for now Durr4456. I have been away from home over the last 5 weeks and dearly miss my car. I tinted the windows before I left and am seriously considering purchasing the SLP tomorrow - Wife is going to be Pissed!... LOL.

Yea, CAI and new intake will void the engine warranty. The tune won't..unless you're a very honest person and tell them instead of just bringing it back to stock. Hands down the best small mod you can do

Thanks for the kind words Purple and Durr4456.

Lethal Dosage, I am still figuring the tune process out. I try to be more on the honest side, so I will likely inform them that I am going to go that direction if I decide too. I am not the everyday, above 87 Octane type. So any tune I get will be for the purpose of improving fuel consumption and perhaps occasional changes to support high octane levels. I am hoping that an upgrade of a axleback exhaust (SLP) will not require a tune.

What would a tune do for me without a CAI, full exhaust and/or Boss 302 manifold?

 As a person that has followed and loved these cars since my birth in 1970 I have to say I simply DO NOT remember them EVER being unstable. Infact they were built to win races first and foremost...which they did repeatedly. Hence the ponycar was born!!

But it doesn't matter since you've obviously seen the light now. Thanks for your service (USMC here) and welcome to the forums and Mustang brotherhood!

An axle back will not require a tune to run properly, and a tune on a stock gt will probably net you a few ponies to the rear wheels (not much, prob in the 5-7 vicinity), but you may also be able to get 1-2 mpg better and maybe greater throttle response

Welcome to MM. I on the other hand used to get picked up from elementary school in my aunt's white 97 convertible GT and have been in in LOVE ever since!!! But either way...you're in the right place now!

Stangluvr1970 we have something in common, I was born in 1970 too and we both like Mustangs! My past disdain for Mustangs accumulated from my younger years when I saw adolescents destroy these vehicles within several weeks of owning them. Besides the IROC Z28, as you may recall, Mustangs were amongst the most stolen and abused cars of the 80's era.

Additionally, I saw Mustangs decline from their forward motion and slide down Germany hills due to more the massive torque to the rear wheels and the snowy weather conditions. My Cousin from the Mid West region informed me yesterday that she (and her husband) could not control their 2005 Mustang when it was wet on the ground. Car magazines also express that the 2011-2013 Mustangs are very competitive with today's BMW M3s. In Fact, they are classifying the Mustang as a sports car; a transition from the muscle car (Which the Challenger still owns because of its overly aggressive attitude). Mustangs no longer swerve around corners as they have in the past. I sold my 2006 325I with Sports Package in order to purchase the 2012 model.

Maybe what I hate is actually what I crave. I hated BMW's too due to my experience in owning a 1980 BMW 518I while in Italy. Everything that I replaced was a pump - I changed the water pump, the clutch pump, the brake pump, etc... And it all costed the price of the new pumps. I swore I would never buy a BMW; but that changed with the model that I bought in 2006 which provided more room and electronic updates.

I remember riding in my friend's late 80's or early 90's Cobra Mustang in Italy (I would not dare to inform you of the specifics of that vehicle). The engine compartment came up to my waist. When he hit the pedal, my neck jolted back and the front end lifted north. Forget hearing the engine, I felt that I was in the engine! Maybe that was when my self consciousness decided that this is what I would someday purchase...I don't know.

But now I own one!

Stangluvr1970, in a nutshell, I am saying that you are preaching to the choir....forget the past, my fault, my bad, please forgive me if I offended.

In the words of Dave Chappelle, I tell all non-Mustang Lovers, "I got a Mustang B$%^H!

LOL (Glad to be aboard now!)

Thanks for the greeting MACB. I can totally relate. The Dukes of Hazard and the lady whom I carried groceries for sold me. I worked a Dominic's food chain as a bagger during my younger years. She had a brown, 1970's Challenger.

We had a good customer-bagger relationship...I wanted her to grant me the car in her Will. But that was wrong, wrong, wrong. I hope that she is still around and the car is in her possession. I know she loved it. I loved taking groceries to her car - I can still picture it.

What about Ford Racing or Roush parts? Those won't void the warranty at all.

Elmo187, I am no sure that Roush or Ford Racing CAI would provide much benefit when compared to their competitors - What do any of you think?
