I dont remember the hole on my stock block looking like that. I know i had one, but ****, that looks like some one took a hammer and busted it out
 
This is a bad pic but there is a hole in my block too mine looks cleaner. I know it's a cell phone pic.

thanks for the replies it was a surprise it scared me. now i have another problem the car wont start it cranks but wont start. if i crank it for about 10 sec it bake fires really bad. i show fuel pressure but not holding it to long after i turn off the car. also i dead timed the car. any ideas
 
timing. the dizzy is 180 out

so maybe you think i didn't get the distributor back in right? how do u get it back in right? I did it by going to 0 degrees on the compression stroke and then just put the distributor back in is that wrong.
 
Thats how its done. did you hold your thumb over the number 1 cylinder and verify it was coming up on the compression stroke?
 
Turn the crank with your thumb over the #1 spark plug hole, when you feel air being pushed out... stop. Look at balancer. Turn it more until you hit zero on balancer. Then drop dizzy in with it pointing at #1 on the cap. Then youll need to try and start the engine, but youll still need to make some fine tune ajustments with the dizzy.
