It's been in the family sense it was brand new, it's been taken care of. Never broken down. monthly fluid changes, etc. Original everything.

We're looking at super-charging it, but considering the engine already has quite a bit of miles on it, we're curious as to the pre-cautions. The car wasn't ridin' hard very much, it was actually owned by my grandmother as a town-driver and for road trips... She only got on it when she was Pissed off or on the freeway.

Tranny still shifts perfectly smooth, never a pause or catch. Rear end is still sitting at 3.27.

What all should we look at.

Supercharging at 160k depends entirely on how well your motor has been maintained. My indicator is how much oil does your motor use between oil changes
If you are using only maybe a quart of oil between 5,000 mile oil changes then maybe your motor is tight enought for a supercharger at 160,000 miles.

I put a supercharger on my car at 80,000 miles. I've run it hard for the next 87,000 miles. My car is just at 167,000 miles. But its been rode hard. Still, it currently uses only 1 quart of oil between 5,000 mile oil changes. I fully expect my car to go to 200,000 miles supercharged. I guess we will see.

If your motor is sound then why not supercharge? You motor will hold up to it.

These engines can take a lot of ****. Ford built them well. The only parts I would worry about would be the springs and maybe main and rod bearings. Most of my experience comes from push rod motors. I know the front timing chains can wear on the chain slides. Don't know if more power from a charger would put more pressure on them or not. I know my two cents didn't really help but mayne give some food for thought.

167k on mine.. Always ran great and always pushed 12+lbs...
