Not sure what the splurge of m90 interests are lately.
But for those of us seriously look. Lets pile our info together and see what happens.
Sup guys.
For those of you not knowing me, I have an 04 N/A 4.2 build w/ 100 shot of nitrous hidden under the hood.
I have a thing for short sprints and instant power/tq. I also love building these V6s. I no way plan to be the fastest. But my power levels sure are fun
and whoop alot of ass.
Because of my interests, I am looking heavily at swapping in a supercoupe motor with the M90.
Now for those of you who know about 1% of what that means, your gonna tell me that is stupid because they only make like 20 more hp then a stock split port. So your gonna put single port stuff back on!??!.
Why yes, yes I am. See what most people dont understand, the roots style blower makes alot more tq. Stock split port makes full tq around 3500rpm or so. A supercoupe will make that Tq easily aroudn ohhh 1200-2500rpm. So pretty much from a dead stop its putting more power to the ground.
Supercoupes had a down fall ... SHITTY: Exhaust/Intercooler.
Upgrading those two alone will make for a huge power increase !
300rwhp/400rwtq would be an easy, and is my goal if I go through with this.
300 hp you say ? Thats what you make on nitrous mike ? (Who said I wasn't using nitrous too
)
So down to business. I have been pouring in the research. And still need help. If any of you guys have, or know anyone who has done a SC swap (especially to 99-04) can we please get them in here.
My plan would be to buy a complete supercoupe motor (hope for a 94/5 and may "have" to use one). But it would not be stock. Heads/intake/blower would be ported. FMIC would be used instead. My cam now would be used. And O/R exhaust. All of this should make for a VERY interesting swap if I can manage to go through with this.
Also would consider rebuilding the block for new bearings, etc etc
Most of the swap info out there seems to be for using mustang blocks/parts, and to be on 94-98s. Very little to NONE for a split port conversion.
Some issues im aware of;
Fuel rail - return vs returnless
Clearing Brake Lines
Coolant lines to the heatercore
Cruise control
---------------------
Brake lines = when running my own FMIC, go away from them. P solved.
---------------------
Coolant lines, Ive heard you can do some adjustments to what you have. Otherwise get some new hose and run your own
---------------------
Fuel rail is gonna be the kicker.
you must plug/delete the return side.
Also need to add my FPR.
This is the only info I can find, not a bad idea, but idk clearance issues or anything w/o seeing it first hand.
But I came up with an idea Im going to consider attempting. And idk if this will work.
But instead of cutting the thing up, why not use the FPS to plug the return line and knock out both at the same time.
Only issue I can think of is it not getting accurate reading on pressure way off out there, not being between and directly "on" the fuel rails.
-------------------
Ive seen others make the cruise control work. Will have to just wait and see what happens there.
-------------------
Ill be posting more info/pics/links as I research this stuff.
Anything you guys can help with, OR can get someone here that can help; would all be a big help.
Thanks
MiKe
