Has anyone used this company? Just bought a 99-01 cobra front bumper from them for a decent price!
i agree the 99-01 bumper looks amazing other than the kick up bugs me, id love to see one after a good body shop got there hands on it if they could make it more uniform like the 03-04 :spankit either way this will look amazing compared to your gt bumper good find OPYou know, some days I love the bumper and other days I can't stand it....the curve/crown really bothers me. I have a '99/'01 Cobra bumper and a '03/'04 Cobra bumper sitting here and I really can't decide which one to use.
When the Termi was being developed, the test mule was the 2001 Cobra. The SVT designer (I'm forgetting his name at the moment) felt that the car should appear parallel to the ground. Thus, the changes in the side skirts, front bumper and rear bumper for the 2003/2004 Cobra.
I believe he said that he wanted to change the bumper because of "distortion" of the shape or that the front lip is higher than the corners when facing it from the front. The more I have studied it, the more I understand why he made the changes. If you search on-line for the book entitled "Iron Fist, Lead Foot", you can see how the changes were made. During 2001 I believe, the SVT team cut out the middle, lower section of the bumper and added a flat piece while testing at Road Atlanta. In some ways it reminds me of the Roush bumper which is no surprise because Roush also helped develop the Terminator. In the final stages of development, there is a picture of a 2001 Cobra being loaded on to a car carrier - the bumper is mocked up to the size specs of the Termi bumper. In the pic, you can see that the SVT team cut the corners and added material, increased the air opening in the middle and added on a section on the bottom to make it parallel to the ground.
So, based on this, I'd like to cut-up my '99/'01 Cobra bumper to get it parallel to the ground. I've seen some bumpers that look okay and others that have too much curve. In turn, the Mach 1 spoiler ends up with too much curve in my opinion. Adding an '03/'04 Cobra front spoiler doesn't really look correct either.
What do you guys think? If you look at the 2000 Cobra R front bumper, it is parallel to the ground once the front spoiler/splitter is attached. However, you have to deal with a splitter that will become toast in no time.
Anyway, just curious what you guys think about it....![]()
This is a good example of a "flat" '99/'01 Cobra bumper...Loved that bumper on my 2000gt expecially after I through the mach1 chin to it...

Well, I can tackle the work without a problem. However, just not sure if I want to cut-up a '99/'01 bumper...:naughty:i agree the 99-01 bumper looks amazing other than the kick up bugs me, id love to see one after a good body shop got there hands on it if they could make it more uniform like the 03-04 :spankit either way this will look amazing compared to your gt bumper good find OP
