wont be starting the car today. ****ing pouring down rain :banghead

^ so much this. woke up this morning looking forward to drive the car and then saw the monsoon season apocalypse outside

Due from the nasty rain last night it looked like a truck did a burnout in mud onto my car. So I went to wash it while super windy outside and the water was extremely cold. But it is clean again :D

My hands were freezing, other than that I was fairly warm considering. Couldn't stand seeing it that dirty though so it had to be done.

That is why automatic car washes were invented. I hate washing my car when it's cold. **** that noise.

^would rep you but it won't let me because I rep you so much LOL this is going on my list of detail supplies. Definitely a must to have during the winter months. Should have had this in my arsenal earlier.

couldn't get a good pic of the vents with the lighting but they look great as well!

Any tricks to painting it? I kinda like the idea.

Haha :D. Ok, maybe I need to rephrase... is it just a simple case of rubing with sandpaper and painting? Any special paint?

I don't know that i did it the absolute correct way. But we did the way we knew how and pretty much took from alot of differents ones we had seen.

We cleaned them off with alcohol lots us degreaser. Alcohol did the same job. Then to begin I started with 220 and ruffed them up and cleaned them off once again. Then we started with primer. DId 3 coats of that. I don't remember if I sanded on the coat before paint.... However, we did 7-8 light coats of paint. After the first 2 I sanded with 1500 grit lightly just to scuff it up and then sprayed 3 more coats. and then scuffed it once again with 2000 also to get out some imperfections.I can't remember if we sanded from paint to clear but I sanded every 2 coats of krylon gloss clear with 2000 and then the last time with 2500. Use the same basic concept I did and you won't be disappointed. They are ssssooooooooo damn smooth. I shouldn't have put all that in so soon but I couldn't wait.. However, I won't be driving it or be in it so it should be fine to cure in there for a week or two and then Im going to polish them.

The key is to take your time and don't rush any step. You will get your desired finish in time and that's exactly what u have to keep in mind and be patient. I'm not a good one to speak on patience but I did real well. We are on week 2 off this project and just now finished. Only thing left is the clear on the shifter bezel.

Wish you could tell how smooth they are I am impressed!! Great mod done right!
