yes flywheel.. because.. I'm going to shoot it with a 100 shot because i want to beat new 5.0 because... F them..

Well a new 5.0 only puts 350ish to the wheels and weighs more. You could probably win without spray with what we are talking about
Id try not to worry about power as much as I would worry about putting it to the ground. I have made this mistake also and Im sure almost all of us have at one point but honestly you can waste most of these new muscle cars with 250-270ish at the wheel. Leaving the stoplight or starting line is going to be what helps you the most. If you take what you have already throw on some milled gt40's with some good compression and a cheapo shelf cam and spend some cash on tires/shocks/subframes and get that thing to pull off some 1.6 or 1.7 60' ft times you will have a buss length head start and a mph advantage that would leave you pulling away even after their 400+ hp beast gets going. With still having the stock cam in my notch id be very lucky to see 270 rwhp but so far this year ive wasted a bolt on 2010 ss camaro, 2010 mustang 5.0 with boltons tuned by AFM, brand new srt8 charger (470hp) and a cobalt ss tuned at 28 psi of boost!! If any of these cars could get out of the hole they should atleast give me a run for my money if not put me in the ground but most of them gave up before I even hit 80-100 mph cuz there was that much of a gap. Just remember three key things about people with those cars.
1. most cant afford more than just bolt-ons with a 450+ a month car payment
2. pick your high powered car races by the tires they are running (given that you are as extreme as me and cruise 24/7 on drag radials )
3. most people who buy them have no idea how to launch them and if they are running their awesome stock dealership tires and 45 psi of tp it doesn't really matter if they do.

Not to mention your car with all that and a 5 speed would romp mine with some good driving and a nice setup you may even get into the 11's which I am yet to see myself. It may make you sad not being able to say you have 500 hp but nothings better then telling those guys that do that they got walked by a 4,000 dollar 300 hp car.

aaannd if they know what they are doing and have a great set up then atleast you didnt spend anywhere near 50K plus to have your 11 second car. :screwy:

sry I get a lil chatty when drinking haha but go with that quickfuel carb I just bought the 650 hr dp from them and I will never buy another brand of carb again, the quality is amazing.

Do you realize that a 350 takes just as much money to make decent power????

As for a setup... Go with this.

Twisted wedge 170s, custom bullet cam, Edelbrock Victor junior, 650 double pumper from quick fuel and get the appropriate pushrods, rockers, lifters, gaskets etc.

^very good points rhino

And stangbanger is right on the money as usual. SB I did find him a set of performer heads for cheap. I was thinking they wouldn't be much less power than the trickflow but idk much about the edelbrocks

If you get bored some time get on dragtimes.com or something and see what kind of 60' times these cars lay down on stock tires and suspension, you will hardly ever see any under 2.0 and most around 2.1-2.2 not to mention if its a manual they are going to fry the tires again when they hit second. I'd worry more about the old school cars honestly. With his setup mentioned above the only times you would usually ever see real competition is when the guy U beat has to call up his friend of a freind who has a car that barely sees the road to come teach u a lesson ; )

when I got my car running there wasnt much time left because of that shitty season called winter but the first time I went I had a fried trac lock so I spun really bad, my buddy said I was doing the one wheel wonder all the way to the 330 mark lol, that is prolly a little bit over kill but I was able to pedal my way to a 13.32 @ 107.68 with a 1.98 60' time

the last day of the year it was so packed I only got one run after I fixed my trac lock and I down graded tires from mt et streets to toyo proxes TQ's and my new carb that was out of the box but is still really close to were it needs to be (just a tad rich) and I mustered up a 12.467 @ 109.84 with a high 1.7 something 60'

I still need to tune timing, pump shot cams/jets/carb spacer/get that tiny 2x9" air filter off of there and see how the stall likes to be launched so I am not doing anything huge like a cam until I see how fast I can get her as it sits. I think shes pretty close but I would kill for a 12.20 before I touch my cam. I have herd of people hitting 11's with the ho cam but Im not that geared or light so yea

Wanna hear something crazy?

I have Edelbrock performer 5.0 heads with 1.90/1.60 valves, a ported explorer upper/lower, a b-cam and full exhaust/bolt ons/373s and no real suspension work to speak of.

I made 293 to the wheels which equates to 350 at the flywheel.

I raved a new 5.0 that had a boss 302 intake, a JLT cold air intake and an uncatted x-pipe along with a tune.

He got out on me, but I beat him by a Fender at the stripe. This was also BEFORE I got a tune. Would only be worse now...

Yeah, they'll get to that power level no sweat. I have a good intake and a SHITTY cam and make 350hp. Get a real good OTS cam like the anderson N41 (use 1.7 rockers... It doesn't have enough lift IMO) or a custom cam and expect that figure to go up another 20-30hp easy.
