I have a buddy that is wanting to swap a supercharged 3.8 v6 out of a early 90's turbocoupe t-bird into his v6 mustang with the pony package. All he would need to make the swap work is the computer and wiring harness out of the turbocoupe along with the engine right? Correct me if I'm wrong please. Thanks in advance

No he would use the mustangs harness and computer..simple swap really.. Amd its a SuperCoupe.. Turbo coupes had a four cylinder turbocharged engine.. SuperCoupe had the SC 3.8..

How not? hes a single port car..well actually he didnt say I just assumed because the picture of his cobra i guess.. but with a whole SC motor single port cars have the same two piece balancer so thats not a problem.. lengthen the IAT sensor wires to the rear of the plenum, pipe an intercooler..better install a bigger fuel pump but its already a return system.. use the mustangs timing cover, oil pan, motor mounts and the SC's oil cooler.. route vacuum and coolant lines, tune and done..

If I hadnt decided to tear down and replace bearings and gaskets, then jump into ported heads and a huuge list of other stuff I couldve had a relatively stock sc motor in and ready in no time.. Im just trying to doit all one time and be done.. mine has turned into a total restore.. I have factory sc radiator and intercooler combo here I wont ever need if your buddy does the swap and needs it.. Lots of other stuff too..

Its not a straight up swap, but you will need extra parts and pieces.

Take the SC motor, put the mustang motor mounts on it, bolt the tranny to it and drop it in. If its a standard, you need a 2000+ neutral balanced flywheel. If its an automatic, bolt the tranny up to it.

You will need the 94/5 mustang/SC timing cover, 94/5 SC balancer, lengthen the IAC wires, use a 94/5 GT throttle cable and TB (pretty sure you have to change the TPS sensor and plug as well), make a throttle bracket if you want the cruise control, bend one brake line off the MC, use the SC radiator/intercooler/fan if you want to keep it simple, and a tune.

The SC intercooler/radiator will work, but temps have shown to climb at 70MPH cruise. So a FMIC would be the way to go. 2.5" pipe is the good for almost all power levels.

AC delete is the easiest way, but lines can put together to have the AC working.

Use the SC radiator hoses and oil cooler.

Use the mustang MAF and you will need a 255 pump.

Also, a must is a dual exhaust or you will pop head gaskets.

There is a feed and return line right by the plug for the engine harness. I had to use an econoline fuel rail.
There you go christian or anyone that wants to go to return style on a split port.. Econoline van fuel rail.. Return style is good for alot more power w/o as much pump.. What rail youd have to use has been a question of mine before.. No question if youre going F.I. on a split port, heres the setup..

I still have the fuel rail if someone wants it. Worked well with my turbo setup. The brackets to hold the rails down don't line up but that is a simple fix.

The injectors 'plug in' have to be evenly spaced and perpendicular to the rail.

What is the reason everyone I
Is saying u need to use 94/95 timing cover/balancer? Will my 97 mustang stuff work?
