While I'm driving and my car gets around 45-50 MPH I hear this weird noise when I press the gas. It won't let me accelerate when this happens, the more i push the pedal the louder the noise gets. Now when I floor the gas it'll accelerate. This always happens after it shifts around 45-50mph. Anyone have any idea what is causing this? I changed the transmission thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't. I uploaded a video of the sound.

well the rule of thumb for diagnosing a converter is when you check everything else its prob the converter

if you are standing still foot mashed on the brake and full throttle what dose the converter stall at

only do this for a couple seconds and then put it in neutral and let it run for 30 secs to get the hot oil out of the converter

if the tires brake loose while brake torqueing that is your stall rpm also

did you reuse your old converter on the new tranny?

make sure you also keep checking your tranny fluid cause it can also be the tranny slipping but since you replaced it shouldnt be the tranny but very well could be

I'm running a new tranny and new converter and same thing.

I also just finish reading about torque converter lock up. Could it be that I'm experiencing my torque converter locking up? Could a tune change when the torque converter locks? I'm guessing it's a bad tune.

It's BAMA street tune, BTW.

do you get the same noise if OD was off?

does it only occur at 45-50? at certain temps (just started, warmed up, after driving it a bit hard, etc)?

my first thoughts after playing it a couple of times was something's a-shakin'/rattlin'.

not a tranny kind of guy giggity, but if I when I'm cruisin' around in OD, mine takes like a few seconds to realize "oh, he wants to go faster, i'll unOD myself, and gear down."; kind of like the transmission hasn't gotten the signal even though the engine wants to rev, in response to my prodding with the gas pedal.

does the engine behave as expected (starts pulling some revs), or does it go kinda wonky too?

yes the tune changes when the converter locks up and when it down shifts that would be the only thing left that has the car as part of the issue that hasnt changed then

can you reflash it back to factory and try it?

do you have a inline filter in the cooler line?
did you make sure the cooler and lines were cleaned out during the switch

My tuner screen has led bleeding so I can't see anything. I RMA'ed it back to SCT. My pops owns a shop he did all the work.

Yeah it's only around those speeds. When I enter the shuddering and floor it, the car behaves normal again. Like I have to brake all the way to 25MPH for my car to accelerate like normal. Or I can just floor the pedal through it, but I'm not sure if I'm causing more damage by doing that

I can't view the video here, but if the noise you're hearing sounds like a bunch of ball bearings in a coffee can, it's likely detonation. With a canned tune, chances are that the ignition timing is advanced too far and/or the AFR is too lean.

It does sound like that.

I drove the car today with O/D off and this problem went away. So I'm guessing it's a bad tune.
