While these are not mustang rims, ya'll can pretend they are
I picked up a rough set of rims for my F150 over the weekend. Spent time and properly sanded/stripped bare - 2 coats of primer, 3 coats paint, 3-4 coats of clear coat - all the Rustoleum spray can stuff.
They turned out great - glossy black. I did all the primer/paint/clear in one day, and gave it all plenty of time between coats....however...
I got hasty, and decided to test fit one at the end of the day - they had only been left to dry 4-5hrs, and while they could be 'handled' - they were obviously still soft, as I while position the rim, my hand 'sank' into the paint, and shifted a whole chunk of paint (like moving the 'skin/goo' on pudding/soup).
I know I got hasty, my bad, live and learn.
Question is, I plan on allowing the other 3 rims to cure for 3-4 days before touching/mounting them.
When should I start fixing the one I messed up?
Do I wait 3-4 like the others (let everything get good and somewhat cured)?
Or should I start sanding and repainting today? (I did the painting yesterday).
It's a palm sized spot (relatively large compared to overall surface area)(plus two little finger prints as well) - should I 'spot' fix this, or chemically strip the rim and start all over?
Now or later? ....and any tips?
