Hello MM forums!
I wrecked my stang last week :(
Long story short i got cut off in the rain, and i hit a car stopped at the light. Anyway, i only had liability insurance and they're only paying for her car. Now on to the question from the looks of her should i fix her up? or scrap her? She runs and everything but from the looks of it i need a new radiator. Please help!

Sorry to see this . Your best bet it's going to be to take all your goodies off and sadly get rid of her , it looks like there's quite a bit of damage the lower radiator support is bent , it looks like there's damage to the frame rails and you need a new front clip , you've probably got at least 3k in damage

Depends how much you like the car man. If it was mine I'd get it fixed. Did you get an estimate on it yet? You could always buy a cobra bumper and cowl hood for it.
I loved her. I'm only 19 and this is my 2nd car. Coming from a geo prizm lol. My mechanic is gonna come over tomorrow and look at all the damages. and if i were to get it fixed that's exactly what i was gonna do to it!

How much do you think i can get if i were to scrap her? W/o my aftermarket parts of course. Also if i were to go to a local scrapyard you think it would still be around 3k?
 
no scrapyard would give you that much man, put her on craigslist if youre gonna get rid of it, someone will probably buy it for parts.

Cost of fixing it will probably be around 2k or more. about 300-400 for front left quarter panel, (doesnt look like front left is damaged?) 500+ for a hood, looks like the frame support thing for the radiator is bent, youll need that, new radiator, new grill inserts and possibly more that isnt shown.

also a new headlight which will run 50 or so, unless those are the chrome aftermarket ones, which will probably be around 200 unless you can find one online so you dont have to buy a new set

Stock hoods for around 150, fenders for around 100 each, and a headlight for around 50 bucks. You could probably even go to a scrap yard and get all of it for less than 400-500 dollars.

Yeah im going to go to a couple junkyards as soon as my mechanic comes to check it out. I hope only a couple things are wrong like you said, because i dont really have money for a new car, I just got a job
 
My car looked just like this except the hood came on up and smashed out the windshield and the corners of the roof.. I fixed it for like $250... minus the windshield of course.. dont junk that car fix it.. No big deal..

Ive got the radiator, the hood, and the bumper cover laying in my shops loft right now. Easy craigslist parts.. Whoever says to junk that car has no idea what theyre talking about.. Lol the guy I got my car from was sure pissed when he sold it to me for $400 thinkn it was trashed and $500 and two weeks later it was fixed and getting an 8.8 swap, cobra r's a tune and a set of headers..


Beat that core support straight w a BFH..whats its function? To hold the radiator.. As long as its doing that its working and the bumper cover will cover it.. I bought a fender for 20 bucks and was told to take the other with me so I got the pair... A hood 500? I bought mine for $50 at the local yard but whatever.. A brand spanking new header panel is 50 duckets on ebay right now... The biggest cost you have to incur is the paint and that can always be done in steps.. No question.. Fix that car..
 
What state are you in? I'm in Washington and have some headlights and a GT hood with scoop for sale..Might also have a spare grille, not sure. I don't know what radiators will fit but I know I have a 94-98 v6 radiator so if that will work I'll sell that also.

This might be a stupid question but how do I know if the frame is bent? The only thing that's seems bent is up to the the core support.

if it was me id say just bang out that left fender, bang out the radiator mount unless its a cheap fix, and buy a GT hood, cobra front bumer or find one in a junkyard, and call her a day, you didnt mess up any suspention mountings? and a alinement when done wouldnt hurt you should open your hood and take some pics, and maybe one under the car too

Edit: am man looking close that fender is ****ed, and the door? can you weld at all cause the radiator mount is pretty ****ed up, id just try to patch her and keep her going, but thats just me! im trying to keep my 6 going till im 23 and get a black GT and build that **** instead =D
 
Core support is ****ed but fixable.. And as far as checking for bent frame.. Does it drive straight still? Id get a radiator in it and see.. Id get the car off the ground and look everywhere w a bright flashlight.. Try to find any buckle in the metal anywhere.. Another good thing to look for is cracked paint.. When the metal bends/folds the factory paint will come off.. As long as I didnt have to have the frame straightened I'd run with it.. Looks like it was a SUPER clean car too..
