i currently have stock manifolds and a pypes x-pipe. i like the sound/rasp of it, or should i say i am ok with it. i am mostly looking for "the most power". i will be ordering my LT's this weekend so i am tossing around the following combos.

chrome mac headers 390, PC 460 totaling 850 at AM
ceramic mac headers 520, "brenspeed x" for 255 (assuming bbk? but says made by mac) totaling 775 at brenspeed
ceramic pacesetters 480, h-pipe 165 (i do not see a combo deal with the ceramic) totalling 645 at stage3

now i assume i might be able to pic up the chrome macs from AM and the x-pipe from brendspeed i dont know for sure though. that could get me down to 645.

now, the PC i know sounds the best in my opinion, but realistically how much hp am i really giving up? i like the sound, but the added cost plus the (very little) lose of power makes it not looking to go for that option. then you have the pacesetters that i read you can get for 525, but im coming up with 645? is there a coupon code for MM members? the potential lose of power there might be worth the 205+ in savings. then again i can possibly piece together the mac LT's from AM and get the mid pipe from brenspeed, but they do not have it listed by itself. i based my "assumption of it being bbk" because it fits the price if you bought just the x-pipe.

lastly, as of now i am NA but plan to get a whipple HO in 1-2 years. will the 1 3/4" headers cause more lose of low end than the 1 5/8" for the time being?

as of right now, no i am not pushing the limits. but once i get a supercharger and cams, it will be pushing a bit more air than i have now and that might effect it? i like the sound of the PC, but can not justify that much more cash at the time. then their are the pacesetters, which i am interested in how people are getting them for a lot less than i am finding them.

I have heard about pacesetter fitment issues. Also, I don't think a blower will max the exhaust, but it'll magnify the change in power/torque btwn the different midpipes.

I say just get the prochamber if that's the sound you like. When you skimp on exhaust quality, you get massive drone and/or fart cans...

soooooo many posts on this lol midpipes wont affect your hp, and if so, i think its like 1 hp gain from x-pipes. Just buy em on the classifieds if their available, got my prochambers for 200 shipped

what about chrome headers?

No, not chrome either. If you're buying mac, get the ceramic. Unless you like jacking up the car, removing the midpipe, battery/battery tray, starter, lifting up the motor, steering linkage, removing the manifolds and reinstalling twice... Buy the ceramic.

I have pypes m80's, wonder how the PC will sound with those?

X pipe more raspie

H pipe deeper tone

Pro chamber deepest tone

I have ponder over all this a very long time. It's gonna cost you if you want to play...

prochambers are quieter than h-pipes as well, so if your looking for a better tone but you dont want to be extremely loud and annoying in the process, bam, der you go. I dont want something your gunna hear from miles away when i get my axle-back/cat-back or whatever ill want installed. The prochambers are on sell this month on AM btw.

When i bought my 2001 GT, It didn't have any type of midpipe. I just had straight 3" pipes from the header to flowmaster delta 40's and it sounded amazing.

I know you can't make the 3v sound the same but,

I've wondered if there is a major loss with no midpipe at all? sure would be cheaper and easier to weld up if so. I'm always about fabing my own stuff rather than buying someone else's packaged stuff.

i doubt theres a loss at all, midpipes are really just for sound broskee
