My issue is with a clunking noise when I use the clutch pedal. Sometimes it happens as I push in the clutch and sometimes it happen as I let the clutch out. Its not constant, but its very annoying when it happens. As I push in the clutch, I can hear and feel what I assume in the transmission. Its hard to explain, and if you need me to, I'll try to elaborate.

Think its me or is there something wrong? The only mods I've done are a Barton shift bracket and a Roush Axleback.

This cars have two piece drive shaft. So some clunking is from that. I think that the clunk you are experiencing is caused by the dual mass flywheel. The clunking could be releaved by a huge margin by changing your driving habits though.

Mine has just under 3,000 miles on it currently. It doesn't do it when I drive the **** out of it or when I drive normal. It just happens sometimes. Sometimes I can shift and it will be super smooth, no noise, nothing. Then other times I shift and when I push the pedal, it sounds and feels like the clutch fell out...

Mine does it too. I think what we are hearing is the disengaging/engaging of the clutch
I can hear the clutch engaging and disengaging most of the time as well. But I just hear that. The issue I am having is that sometimes I can feel it happening and it just doesn't feel right. I'm probably just paranoid after reading all the MT82 issues, so I just wanted to check.

Didn't read all the post sorry but from all the reviews I've seen/read about the S197, they have problematic transmissions. Noise or when hard shifting/fast shifting they will miss gears i.e. 1st to 2nd.

I have a different transmission but I have some of the same noises. It always happens when I push in the clutch pedal quickly. When I push it in slower it isn't nearly as loud.
That sounds about right. I'm 99% sure thats when it occurs. Thanks for making me think of it that way, that's what I was fishing for.

Yeah the MT82 has its issues apparently, but mine shifts fine. I've never missed a gear due to transmission issues, only driver caused. It doesn't shift hard either. Its smooth as ice when I drive, just sometimes I hear that loud noise when I push the clutch pedal.

I've sat in them at dealers and they feel amazing. But a lot of the video reviews just show them missing gears. Maybe its just the reviewers. Not knocking them by any means. Just have their issues like every other trans made.

Oh I know what you're saying. I read many of reviews about them as well so I know where you're coming from. I'm just saying that mine personally doesn't have that issue thank God.

i hear it in first. its weird like i know how to to make it clunk but i just cant explain it in details u dont feel a clunk u just hear it. for example as i go into first if i hit the clutch down fast it would do it but never got it when letting out the clutch.

dont worry about it its ment to get beat oni was concerned to when i first bought the car then i came to realize theres a lot of noises coming from the car when shifting and what not. unless it sounds really really bad like somthing gonna explode then ur fine beat the **** out of it.

My car has right at 16k miles on it and I have driven the car pretty hard. 2 weeks ago I was talking with some other 5.0 guys including alot that have had tranny issues with the MT-82. Of course I was bragging that i have had zero issues with mine and have never missed a shift. WELL this week the tranny went out!!! No warning signs nothing! Shifting from 2-3 the shifter stuck in the nuetral position and wouldnt budge! The car however was stuck in 2nd gear. Talked to Revolution Automotive in Maryland who has had great succes with rebuilding these trannies and they are convinced its shoft fork/pads! So the tranny will be getting shipped to them next week for a complete rebuild/upgrade! Just be prepared these trannies suck in stock form!! Thousands dead and counting! It seems hit or miss
