Been doing research for my 2004 mustang gt exhaust. I am going to have a set-up with either a bbk or upr off road x pipe. But cant come to really get my grip on one of these exhaust types. Help me out! Would love some input.

I personally like the sound of chambered mufflers. I've never liked how SLP sounds and with an o/r x pipe it will be extremely obnoxious. I've had a Flowmaster catback and liked it until it rusted out after 4 years. I currently have a JBA Evol stainless steel catback which has a similar sound to Flowmaster and Mac. Been on the car for 5 years and holding up great.

I've got slp lm1s with a prochamber and love the way it sounds. I'm personally a big fan of slp and mac. I've never had flowmaster but I know a lot of people like them too. It's all personal preference. Get on youtube and find a set up you like. I'm also not too crazy about bbk so if it's between those two I might go with the upr x pipe but like blownstang said that's going to be really loud.

I'd get an offroad H pipe and MAC catback. I loved the way it sounded. Flowmasterish sound, little louder, better tone, and better quality imo. That and not every other mustang on the planet is running MAC.

I'm sure Mach Stang would say the same.

I ve been searing around on youtube for a couple weeks. The slps are going to be really loud, the flowmaster sound a little hollow to me. I want people to hear me but I don't want my ear drums being blown out the time... I think mac would be a loud set-up where people can hear me from a couple blocks.

I had a pypes o/r x paired up with magnaflow magnapacks and it was amazing. if your going to do SLP i would go with a mac prochamber mid pipe. Its what i have now and its my favorite sound on a 2v ever!

Here are a few of my vids.
Bbk shortys and catted x with flows that came with car. I love the sound. I keep searching for a different setup but keep coming back to mine. Guess I'm used to it as I don't think it's loud enough. But my wife says she knows when I'm almost home as she here's me pull down the street. We live in an apartment that between other apartments away from street, so I know its somewhat loud. Hope that helps you decide. Good luck!

mellis what was your favorite set-up you've had. Whats the difference between your maganflow and slp set up now. Like I said I want to be heard but want it to sound good.

04darkshadow- good sound to your car. I would like mine to be a little louder though. What type of flowmaster mufflers are on the car?

Right now these are the three videos that I have found for the three different types of exhaust I want. So hard to choose from...

either 40's or 44's not much of a difference I was told.

What do you guys think?

My current setup is my favorite. (Mac prochamber mid with SLP LM1's)
The prochamber H design helps get rid of that raspy crap sound that happens when you pair a O/R X with SLP LM1's

The UPR O/R X would sound amazing with Magnapacks IMO.

The main difference in the sound with my old setup (pypes o/r x and magnapacks) and my current setup is that they have almost the same sound, but my current one is a little louder. They both sound amazing though!

And my old setup, filmed with a **** camera so it sounds kinda muffled

Not sure. They were on car when I bought it.

That's a photo of them when I bought the car.

Thinking about new ones when I do my phb install as I'll have to modify pipes anyways to clear it. I suspect 40's.

Thanks guys, mellis how do you think the slp's would sound with an upr off road x pipe... way to raspy?

Mellis I have a hard time getting the sound of your exhaust through your videos. I am going through some now to get an idea

Slp lm2, bbk o/r x pipe and long tubes.

I've got a full Mac exhaust (long tubes, prochamber, catback) and highly recommend it. I get a lot of compliments. It's not loud at all cruising on the highway but you can make it bark when you want to

Sounds good! Those cams definitely help don't they

Thanks, yeah I got close to maybe 65hp out of them with a 1 psi drop in boost and 3° less timing.

That sounds almost exactly like mine. I have the hi flow cats and there's very little difference between those and off road as there's barely any restrictions in the cats. I throw codes on them sometimes as they are almost an o/r application. I like them as I can pass emissions without buying another x pipe and having to swap them and then store them.

2002 Mustang GT Bassani o/r X-Pipe Flowmaster Super 44's - YouTube either 40's or 44's not much of a difference I was told.
There is a big difference. I've had both. The Super 44's are much deeper and more aggressive sounding while the 40's are more hollow sounding. The 44's are noticeably louder. The Super 44's have 2 interior baffles while the Super 40's have 3. FYI
