Ever since I got my 4.10s my bfg 245/45 r just spinning through 1 and 2 gear and a hair into 3rd my cars pretty much full bolt ons except for cams and pullies but they will come all in good time... Possibly not sure but could sc someday
I don't mind getting new rims if I have to but I want a tire that will still hook and get a good amount of miles on.. My buddies trying to get me to go 315s but I feel like that's just to heavy And will slow me down

Can u guys post some pics of what your running in the rear I love that wide stance

275 do they give that bad ass look also

It's not how wide but the compound that makes a difference. It is very difficult to run street tires and 4.10 gears.

i assume your on 17's?

Could not agree more. Tire compound plays an important role not width. I ran a 315 sumitomo and spun all day. I could run a 275 Mickey and not have a problem. Tire pressure is also important with each compound.

Pictures can easily be found on Google or AM product pages with customer uploads. Like Eagle said, the compound is more important that the width. And like nitmare said, something that sticks really well isn't going to last very long. Last time I checked, drag radials would get like 5k-10k miles of daily driving whiles summer tires like my Sumis should get closer to 30k.

I'm on Sumi HTRZIIs 275/40/18 and don't really spin at all with just cai/tune/mufflers. I'll give you an update on Tuesday when I have my 4.10s installed.

hahaha, welcome to the world of no traction once you get the 4.10's in! Sumi, usually are okay for the first few thousand miles but quickly run out of life preventing spins.

THIS^

I run 315 nitto 555's and they are.. okay. They are worlds better than sumitomo HTRZ's of the same size, but they still spin in 1'st and a bit of 2nd.

Don't get too hung up on width. It helps yes, but it's not the only thing. As said above compound is important, but I can hook pretty hard on 275 all seasons. My car is around 400hp crank with 4.10's. The reason I can hook is because I have a decent suspension setup.

The biggest help for me was subframe connectors. I would recommend new quality shocks/struts and possibly some springs. Also a solid LCA would work wonders. Wheel hop is why you spin in most cases, so the widest tire in the world won't help if the tire isn't on the ground.

I got 245s on a bolt on car with 4.30s and I hook just fine  running those toyo proxes 4. Its not about the size mate, it's how you use it! compound, driving, weight management are all important. do not buy the cheapest old dry tires if you want it to perform. However, I find these tires walk all over the road till you wear them a little. the treads come too tall when new. I just drive like hell around corners till they get stable and they rock.
