Hey everyone, I was hoping that someone can help me out with this. I bought a set of GT500 replica's off craigslist that were in pretty bad shape so I'm restoring them. 2 of the wheel had decent 245/45/17 on them and 2 were trashed, so I put used 275/40/17 just to mock up and make sure I didn't need to mod the fenders or quad shocks. But getting to my problem. When I put the wheels with the 245's on the front of the car and the wheel and tire are setting out about an inch. The only thing I could think of is that the wheels are staggered with 17x10's. But I cant find these wheels anywhere where they come in 17x10's or any info on the backspacing. So I'm wondering if anyone has seen or heard of these wheels in that size or why it would setting out that far. I was going to switch the tires around but I don't want to pay 50 bucks to switch them and have the same issue. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks!

That's the thing about these wheels, I've never seen them in 17x10 fitment. So I just assumed that they were all 17x9's. But with it setting out that far in the front I can't think of any other reason except they are 17x10. I think I'm just going to have them pulled off and switched around.

And as far as the 5 lug goes I was going to convert bit these wheels were only 250. So I thought I'd see if I liked them before doing all that. With the 5 lug conversation most say you can't run the 2000 up wheels without a spacer up front because the center cap won't fit. And you can't buy all the wheels before 2000 in 4 lug. I think it's a lot easier than than changing to SN95 spindles. To much junk yard time involved lol

Well after putting my stock ponys back on I seen that its not the wheels at all. My driver side wheel is setting out an inch more than the passenger side.... Does any know what will cause this? The car is lowered so im not sure if it has something to do with tie rods or not. Thanks guys for your help I haven't really messed with front ends much so any help would be appreciated.

I doubt its the tierods as it appears the entire wheel is pushed out with those replicas. If it were the tierods the wheel would simply point left or right. The wheel looks like its pointed straight so i can only assume its not the alignment. Are you absolutely sure it was never in an accident? The kmember may have shifted causing one side to stick out more than the other. Ever swap control arms with an SN95? They are a tad longer which would put the wheel farther out than a Fox. Are both rotors stock GT/LX or 93 Cobra? The Cobra used a taller rotor where the lugs go (by about 3/4" or so) which would put the wheels farther out, but i cant remember the bakspacing for either setup. A parts store could have given you the wrong rotor, if thats where you got them.

Without a hands on, i couldnt tell you for sure why one side sticks out.

My 93 was in an accident with frame rail damage, the Kmember had a cracked weld and the crossover behind the heads dented the firewall. I had it fixed and niether side sticks out more than the other. Everything is stock except for rotors and pads, and end links.

I believe the spindles from 1994-95 push the wheel out 3.1 mm
And 96-04 push the wheels out 8.1 mm

Thanks for the reply. Everything up front suspension wise is stock other than the coil springs. To my knowledge it's never been wrecked but it's possible. The car handles extremely good so I never noticed the wheel being out like that until I put those 17's on. I've looked around online and it seems to be a common thing, by that I mean there's been a lot of people with the same issue. But mine seems to be setting out further than they are describing. I'm going to jack it up tomorrow and check to see if there's anything structurally out of place. Thanks guys!

In that middle photo you posted it doesn't look like there is any negative camber in your front end. It may just be the angle of the photo, though. If that's the case, that would account for at least some of the problem.

(Opinion Alert!)

Honestly, your car looks better on the Pony wheels anyway.

I have new caster camber plates I'm getting ready to install soon. Maybe that'll even it up some. I agree, I think it looks better with the ponys also. I'm probably going to clean those GT500 wheels up and throw them Craigslist. I want to get cobra R's to go it but I'll have the same issue unless I get 17x8's up front which is fine by me.
