just got done putting my old pipes on, my exhaust sounds like doody now lol

ive come up with more questions, so i figured id just ask on this thread instead of making a new one.

1. so i see some guys engines bay that look way more empty than a stock engine compartment, like everything is either hidden or relocated. How would i go about doing that? is their a guide or something? im looking to do stuff to pass my time seeing as how im bored as **** lately lol

2. If i wanted to learn the ins and out of an engine, would it not be a bad idea to pick up a v8 from the junkyard, tear it apart, and put it back together? its been on my mind lately
You can put your battery in the trunk and do a wire tuck if that's the look you want.

The best way to learn how an engine works is just that - get one, but a book, and learn how to tear it down and put it back together all by yourself (or with someone who has done it before). Just remember, mistakes can be costly, so read read read and study up before each step of the process.

You could buy a cheap modular 4.6 V8 from the junkyard and make a forged 4.6 stroker project. It will cost you $$$, but you will learn a lot. Of course you need a great machine shop to bore it for you to specs, and you need a nice tool set (good torque wrenches especially). You can buy a complete rotating assembly from JDM and others.

Mann I just got so excited reading this lol how much would the v8 cost? I'd totally be down to do all that, and anything I can do myself, I would. My garage is full of tools, plus it's like half of my house, so i should be alright with the tools part. What exactly would have to be done to bore the engine, forge, stroke, all that ****? Not sure what a rotating assembly is lol thanks a bunch for the awesome response man

So I'm getting my shaker hood painted black soon, what do you his think would be a good price? I know what to look for in terms of body panels, but no clue when it comes to that hood, just because of how difficult it would be to prep or not, etc. and would u guys suggest just painting the hood scoop, or the whole unit? Thanks

blown is Forced Induction/ FI as stated
however there are a variety of ways to achieve this

blower/roots type/supercharger- internals consist of two rotors that compress the air between lobes. it a bit of an older technology now but Eaton and a few other still use it. on older hot rods you would hear guys talking about their 671 or 871 blower.

twin screw/supercharger- exactly what is says there are two screws inside that compress the air and push either towards the back or front of the case. Kenne Bell is probly the biggest twin screw name on the market

centrifugal supercharger- looks like a snail and has a round case that it uses fins to create pressure in the case and is expelled as "boost" Vortec or Paxton

all superchargers are gear or belt driven... gear driven is more efficient and doesnt have belt slipage but of course you are using engine internals to drive it. this is why with belt driven chargers a pulley change will change the amount of boost created

turbocharger- by far the most efficent way to make boost and also creates more useable HP. these are two snail like cases placed back to back on a center cartridge. from the center cartridge there is a shaft that runs through the middle with a turbine (fins) on each side. the hot side of a turbo runs the exhaust through it spinning the fins and spinning the shaft causing the cold side of the turbo to compress air and expel it from the housing in the same way as the centrifugal supercharger. there are more complex setups such as twin turbine or compound turbo systems or twin turbo system

So I might buy some headers soon and have them ceramic coated locally, what is the correct process of ceramic coating? I wanna ask some shops in the area how they do it and make sure there not just powder coating **** with some ceramic paint (I really have no clue how to ceramic coat so I probly sound dumb) and callin it professional ceramic coating. Just wanna make sure I get what I pay for and that itl last

Neither was I, hence the Google search. Google is a pretty amazing resource if you use it.

True, but the only problem with google lies in those ****ing games on the search page. Who can honestly look up things when they have some much nifty on the letters. A couple weeks back they had a Doctor Who game, I didn't search for anything for a whole day.

Hahaha. True, but I never go to the page. I just use my address bar in Safari or Chrome to search via Google.

I found a place that can ceramic coat, they said it's good up to 1200 degrees, I think... 1200 or 12000 lol pretty sure it was 1200 tho. So is that a pretty good heat resistance? I'm gunna see if they'll give me a year warranty or something like that, that'll tell me whether they believe there product is good or not.

how much did they want for that? 1200 is pretty low i think. the 1200 degree paint does not hold up on a set of headers i had, but the 1500(?) did hold up pretty well though.

$150. Called another place and he seemed to know what he was talking about, said it could hold up to 2k but he wants $225, lame

For 150 that can't be cost effective, could it? 335ish for coated headers that are new or buy used and spend 150 to coat them?
