Are you mechanically inclined? If you are I would buy a engine like a Cobra or a Mach 1 engine and start building it up in your garage. Forged internals and so on. If the current engine dumps on you, you'll have a built replacement, but if you finish the motor before the old one dies you will have built a beast to replace it with and you'll have minimum time down. In the mean time you can put on things like exhaust, gears and a tuner. I just wouldn't do headers just yet.
+1

this is exactly what you should do IMO

sorry neckbonekat, still havent posted a pic, ive been caught up in a lot of work. ill post one soon tho (like tomorrow, even though my car is dirty as hell).

i would consider myself mechanically inclined but i have a LOT to learn when it comes to cars. i am far far away from being able to build and engine from scratch.

Well that is certainly a good way to learn. Youu literally have years to learn how to do it and finish it. Your engine should last a while if taken care of.
