So my brakes are being loud as hell.
I'm not talking about a little squeak(which is all I see threads about when I search my problem) I'm talking about a loud, high pitched, nails on chalkboard, drive you to insanity squeal. It happens under light and normal braking, no noise during hard braking. And it also squeals a little bit when I'm backing up, even though I'm not applying the brakes when it happens.
Before anyone asks, the pads are not that old. Yes I looked at them, and there is a lot of pad left. I do see that there is a bit of rust around the edges of them, but that's somewhat normal..right?
Rotors look okay.
Spraying the **** out if them, even with a pressure washer does nothing to reduce the sound.
Any tips or ideas?

It's so shitty to have a clean, great looking ride, with a nice sounding exhaust...but only getting stares because of how loud your brakes are.

um, check the dust cover for the rotor. a rock might be wedged in there or somewhere near by. jack up each wheel and rotate to isolate the noise.

did you check the metal tabs on the pads that indicate to change them? could be bent. or if they are wearing down then just bend them away from the rotor and remember to replace them.

That is a good idea... Completely slipped my mind.

And yup, tabs and pad thickness were first on my list.

Looks like my brakes are vibrating a lot.

And yes... I know my rotors look like ****. Lol
But they're in good condition so they can wait

any luck with this problem? do any of your wheels have excessive brake dust? any of them smell like burnt brakes after driving easy? what kind of pads are you running? that honeycomb appearance looks fancy, are they racing pads? did you check the e brake cable? idk what else it could be

Those looks like regular auto parts store pads. Any of the hardware rubbing on the rotors?? Try driving next to a building and listen carefully with the windows down.listen for a higher pitch rub, also you said your brakes are vibrating? Does your steering wheel shake or just the brake pedal?

i'd just say screw it and take the whole shizz apart.
so basically I am kinda like :headscratcher:
then I get :computer:
:shitbrick :banghead  so now I tell my wife and she's like :spank and I then I think oh ya, well...... :lickMe she forks over cash the next day so i'm finally back to :bubba:
and then somehow it was all worth it....

Definitely no dust buildup. I clean the hell out of my wheels and what not, at least once a week because I'm really anal about brake dust lol.
No burnt smell, least not after normal driving. Ha

Honestly, not sure what pads those are. I normally change em myself, and run Hawk HPS on front and back.. But last time my front pads were replaced at at a shop because I needed an alignment and there was almost nothing left of the pads anyway, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. It was their "premium brake pads"

As for bad calipers... I don't know... They seem to function just fine, definitely no stopping problems.

Finally_GT.... You just blew my mind.... I....

Ha yeah, I'm thinking I might just have to tear I down though. Gives me an excuse to swap out those rusty disks. Lol

Good idea. Thanks, man. I'll give it a shot.
Caliper rebuild kits, huh? Sounds like a pain in the ass.

Checked the dustguards... Nothing there, even bended them back a bit.
Definitely not the ebrake.
I'll check and see if one of the pads is sticking, and if not.. I'll have to take everything apart. Maybe one of the pads is just not sitting right, and moving or something.

I had a truck that used to do that. I didn't drive it much and it had rust on the rotors and pads. I did find a way to stop the squealing though. I drove about 5 miles with my left foot pushing down the brakes. It heated them up nicely and got rid of most of the rust.

Dust shield , sticking caliper come to mind. And ya touch a hot rotor. I want to witness that :dunce:
Jack up each wheel and turn the wheel. Does it make the noise? If not then you narrowed down to pads and caliper.
