I had this problem some time ago my car ran shitty, what I did was a tune up new wires plugs. then it stopped jerking and almost dying when I turned up the heat, this was my problem only during heat did it do this, also it would bog down trying to catch highway speed.

Does this sound like your problem?

I never kept it on when driving I was too scared lol but yeah its pretty bad the cars last tune up was at like 80k miles its at 121 now maybe I should bring it in... ugh more money lol.

would a low battery or bad alt. be the issue? any other ideas?

With the misfires I would check the plugs and wires just incase.

When I went to auto zone they said I was running a random misfire code along with a crankshaft position sensor being bad. I . Got the cps but it still kept coming up I then did the plugs and wires then it all went away.

On a side note keep an eye out for the wiring I hooked up the wires wrong 3 times, this was before I started working on cars, on the last attempt I got it right with Google's help then it all fell into place.

was driving home from work at 5 and it was dark already so I had my lights on noticed when I turn the ac/heat on the lights dimmed out too... its gotta be a lack of power issue but why? bad battery, bad alternator, wiring issue?

Does the problem occur in any HVAC position, or just those that run the AC compressor (defrost, defrost/floor, AC, and Max AC)?

good question I'll go double check right now but I'm pretty sure its everyone.

all of them.... thing is I just went out to run it right now and it wasn't nearly as bad as usual... maybe because the engine was still cold**?

Then, as Stephen suggested, I'd be checking for a vacuum leak after the HVAC head unit. Take a look under the dash (you may need to drop the glovebox, too) and you should be able to see the lines going to vacuum solenoids that operate the doors in the heater core/AC evap box. Verify that they're all in place (lines popping off those solenoids isn't all that uncommon).

alright so I just went to double check, it looks like there is just a bit of power steal when the engine is cold but when it warms up this is where the real problem accurs, when the engine is warm only the the ones that run the ac compressor give the missfire/rough idle symptoms and when turning the wheel while idle the exhaust putts, it almost sounds like fire crackers under water.... I'm trying to put vids of the idle up now later I can get some vids of the engine/exh while the ac is on.

If engaging the AC compressor or putting a load on the power steering pump both cause the issue, then I'd start by cleaning the IAC and MAF.

ok so fml, I cleaned the tb and iac I didn't do the maf cause it was just barely raining (heavy mist with a drop here and there) and didn't want it to get wet I put everything back together and the car wouldn't start w/o my foot on the gas (figured it was left over carb cleaner still in the intake) so I ran it at 2k rpm for abut 10 minutes now it will start and stay running w/o giving it gas but it almost dies on start up then catches after a second or 2, the idle still seems a bit rough the exhaust almost sounds like I'm running performance cams now lol, the ac issue is still there, now I noticed there was a squeeky wheel noise coming from the air filter I went back and tightened everything up it seems to go away but it comes back once I turn on the ac... and the rpms are dropping a lot lower now when the ac is on very close to stalling.

will post a vid of the noise in a moment
