Okay...this might sound stupid ..but does anyone hear know if this is normal for my GT's rear end?

I was putting it up on stands for the winter and while I was removing the rear tires I noticed that the tires turned in opposite directions......Now In all my other mustangs...86 GT 1990 LX the 8.8 posi's moved in the SAME direction. Do these new posi rears work different or what???? or dO I HAVE A BUM REAR END? On the car that is before the burning starts.

Thanks zip..and sorry to shut u down there.....I curse you with 2 feet of fresh Ontario snow for thinking such impure thoughts!!!:D

like zip said. it's normal.

:D

why? Because I said so
How? the Rear Wheels are linked together so that a single engine and transmission can turn both wheels. If your car did not have a differential, the wheels would have to be locked together, forced to spin at the same speed. This would make turning difficult and hard on your car:

I understand that HMUSN...Only reason I said WTF is because the old 8.8's were clutch activated and turned together....I always thought opposite spinning wheels identified an "OPEN" rear end.:). But if u say so then I can sleep sound tonight thanks man!!

Yeah it's fine. One thing I can tell you to watch/listen for is noise. There is a TSB out on the clutch pack for our cars, and I've had it done to my car. They made a bunch of them out of the wrong material or aomething. If it acts up, you will hear a howling noise during low speed turns, especially after the car is warmed up, such as when it comes off a highway blast. :)
