Car is at the painters. The drivers door has always been misaligned since songsve had it. When it would close all the way the door was sunk in too far. He loosened up the striker to Bring the door out which worked but with the door out where its supposed to be it has tons of play in it (in and out). Only thing I can think is that it doesn't have the plastic sleeve on the striker, but then again neither does the pass side which fits and closes just fine.
Thoughts? Thanks.

The firmness is a combination of the weather strip abd that striker bushing
I've got brand new weather stripping to go on when Hes done but there's way more slack than that's gonna take up. Especially being that the old stripping is still in there.

Hmmm. All the body panels are straight? When it's snuggled up how deep does it go? Is it an up and down slop or in and out?
Its an in/out slop. Maybe 1/4 inch or so.

Well, I don't know what to say then. You could have him check the hinges while the cars in paint. Most likely gonna need to get it all back together and play with it. I was too lazy to order the plastic sleeve for my strikers so I used 1/2" (iirc) hose on all three.

I also used a piece of 1/2" CVC pipe ( not PVC pipe).
The 1/2”Cpvc pipe has the exact same ID and OD and thickness as the OEM striker bushing..
You can also buy the sleeve at Autozone you'll find in the Help section, part # 38424 it's about $4.00
