Great review, I am tempted to try HD products, how do you like them compared with Megs 105 205?

I really enjoy HD products. I have a good bit of them in my collection and they have quickly made me put my Menzerna on the back shelf

105 and 205 are now dated. Compounds and polish have come along way w/ in the last couple years. Even megs came out w/ m101 that supposed to cut like 105 and finish down like 205 or better.
+1 Megs 101 kills 105 in every aspect, easy of use, dusting, work time, cut and finish. I love the stuff and you can go straight to a final polish. No more 3 step work these days.

I do really like HD. But i still think menzerna's final polishes are more consistent in finishing down on more kinds of paint.

I can have both, so why not lol.

That's it, I am using MenzernaHD next time :shiftyeyes

HD is not as nasty oily as menzerna. thats what pushed me away from using it anymore..I use to use menzerna alot I just got tired of the oil in it..making it little messier to remove.

I like HD polish alot, mostly because its easy to work with. But i dont find Menzerna hard to remove at all or an "oily mess" as some call it. I think if its that hard to remove, the odds are that the user used too much or didnt break down the polish sufficiently, and a simple 20% IPA wipedown cleans the paint if any residual oils very well.

I used HD polish to finish down my moms 05 Black explorer. For about 90% of the job it finished down perfectly, but i had a few instances where i got some micro-marring near the edge of the working area. Idk what caused it but its something ive never experienced with a Menzerna polish. Ive also never had a menzerna final polish dust on me at all, vs HD which is very sensitive to that if you dont keep your pad super clean or use anything but the minimum amount of product to get the job done.

I think HD polish is a very good product, dont get me wrong, to each his own- but i still dont think it performs quite as consistently as Menzerna finishing polishes do.

I do think adapt is gonna be a game changer though. Something that kind of bugs me, however, is if HD adapt can cut and finish as well as its supposed to, then what is the purpose of HD UNO, Cut, Polish ect....if the product performs as well as proposed (removal of 1500g marks/perfect finish) then why have an entire line of products? lol Just a thought.

Because of HD Adapt, HD UNO is no longer being offered. HD Adapt will work on 90% of 1 step applications most of the time on most paints. But, there is still a huge demand for a dedicated cut & polish product which is what HD Cut & Polish are made for. In comparison, how many other polish lines keep their offerings this basic? Not many. Most are overloaded with redundant products.

I will agree that most companies have a larger line of products, many levels of which arent needed in most cases.

I will eventually get HD apapt. I feel that its gonna be a great product for 1 steps on Blacks and other dark colors. The only reservations have to do with how well it cuts when used with wool or heavy foam, but i dont have doubts, im just curious lol. Im a big DAT fan when it comes to finishing but im always looking, trying, changing learning. I dont have anything against SMAT products, i just have had better consistent results across more paints with DAT, finishing wise.

I look forward to trying it.

FG400 is a great great compound. Unless you are doing other people's cars, id say it should do fine for correcting and finishing on a silver car.

The paint on my Focus is silver and very hard, i used my Flex 3401 with FG400 and Purple foamed wool pad and it finished beautifully, lol.

Get your self some shine supply classic cut much cheaper then fg400 and just as good just not oily as hell easier to remove as well. Follow up with adapt and don't have to deal with menzerna oils. They are nice polishes but like 105-205 better options now. Classic cut and adapt are cheaper and clean up much easier. If adapt finished on my paint perfect it will work on ANY paint perfectly finishing down

well now i own 32 oz. of fresh bottles of fg400 and sf4000, so i better start knocking cars out so i can try HD stuff next, or i might just get some hd too

so you think on most cars you can just ipa and seal over top huh? it isnt very much for the member price. I will have to get some as well. lol
Yes. A simple and complete IPA wipedown will prep any surface that has been corrected with Menzerna Products. Ive coated a car after finishing with Menzerna with zero issues.

If you wanna go even further, pick up a bottle of Menzerna Top Inspection, it cleans better than IPA, i like it.

Great pictures Vader. Paint looks good.

You mentioned it's like Sonax just cheaper. I will say from my experience HD adapt doesn't have crazy fillers like a few Sonax polishes have.

HD Adapt, Cut, Polish are awesome and I will continue to keep all 3 in my collection as long as they are produced (most likely). I will also keep D300 and D302 in my collection for sticky paints. I have about 20 oz of fg400 (menz) left that I can't see myself using at this point. I haven't used it on anything that hd polish or adapt hasn't worked on and I didn't have the clean up that I had from menz. Fg400 was great when it came out. Now there are alternatives that can do the same job without the oils in Menz polishes or the fillers from Sonax Polishers.

I am interested to try Adapt and see how well it finishes down. I have d300 and like it as well. I like using D300 and M101 together.

I do still love FG400 tho lol. If HD adapt well cut and finish similarly, i might have to use it more often.
