alright so i have been hearing alot about different types of oils and which ones are bad, my auto instructor tells me that synthetics are a waste of time, and i have also heared that newer oils dont have some of the things in them that you need, he said they have less zink now, so it causes lifters and other crushal parts to go bad.

what is your thoughts about this?

+1 on those two I have been using royal purple and it works great ( just expensive as hell)

Telling me I am the one that forks over almost $40 for an oil change:mad:
Well I use Royal purple also and I have a 7qt Canton pan plus I use a Fram Racing filter so do the math on that one!!!

Wow you really get pissed the easyest out of anyone in the 5.0 section

Now was this really neccasary I mean im sure he has a good reason behind it. But wait your right our age generation is going ot turn this country to **** because an insctructor said something :crazy

some people say that putting synthetic oil in higher mile engines can break up deposits of older sluge/oil and thus causing leaks.
I heard this same thing. Like in your rear main seals and what not. There is old oil deposits wich the Synthetic will break lose those deposits. And cause the rear main to leak.

Just something I heard

Running Synthetic in a car that has had regular oil for most of it's life will not cause any issues. It will not cause any leaks that is a old myth. Synthetics are far superior to conventional oils in both liubricationad they do not break down as easily so your instructor is incorrect.
