Misfire at idle - YouTube

Excuse the dirty car but no a/c=windows down all the time= dust.

Just got done washing it. Its more noticeable when its warm.
I'm glad ya made that vid, same **** is going on here, if anything my car is doing it more extremely than yours and louder too or it might just be the video but...I have to wait 4 weeks to get a dyno tune/save up the money, I feel by then i'll need new plugs...I'm not sure what to do...i'll make a video too I guess, not necessary but i'll do it.

Luckily a handheld tuner is not to expensive right now, i don't regret getting mine you really do notice a difference. American muscle with the tunes for life program is probably your best bet, that way if you continue to do more mods you can always update your tune later.

Them mods shouldn't need to be dyno tuned. The popping you hear is normal the cats make it quiet. When you delete them you can hear it. I would clean the IAC and just get a hand held from AM and just tell them what you did to it. They'll send you an email tune that you upload to the car. The only time you need a dyno tune is when you change the cams or go F/I.

Which handheld would you suggest? and what im about to say goes to everyone, if the popping is normal, why does my rpm fluctuate like that video just posted? but even more seriously, and a dyno tune wouldn't benefit me more? I believe the shop offers different dyno tunes with sct and some others.

If the popping is normal, than why when it pops it fluctuates the rpm and I feel as if im prematurely wearing out my spark plugs. You would still suggest to clean the iac?

SCT.. Try cleaning your IAC to see if it helps. If it was a miss you'd hear it an feel it at all rpm's.

will do, and yeah im pretty sure it's not a miss, it would/should throw a code, I still romp on it and can't notice any problems, seems alright through all rpms except 1,100rpm under

I cleaned the iac sometime ago and im sure it helped. Mine might need replacing. I just wish it would trigger a code. I hear so many causes from egr/pcv/o2 etc.
As soon as i put a load on the engine everything is smooth sailing and not even a hiccup while crusing. Full power on tap. Maybe you will have better luck cleaning the iac.

If you replace the IAC make sure it's a motorcraft. I replaced mine for one at advance auto and it lasted about a month. Try cleaning your MAF and TB to. Sometimes the throttle blades will stick when it's dirty.

MAF's as clean as whistle, and tb is as clean as it's getting, cleaned it when I did my intake. And yeah $100 for motorcraft but If need be it'll be worth it.

I'd try cleaning it first. Idling problems can be a pain to figure out..

Yes they can be, this specific problem, definitely has something to do with the x pipe.

Also 2 things, I overlooked the dyno tune, going for this maybe? if you guys agree, never used one before hope it's easy, and the free tunes for life do I have to buy it?

Also, my mustang is in my garage till late Wednesday if it's not icy.

That's the one. With the mods you have this is all you need until you step up to cams or F/I. The free tunes was include with mine. They have you feel out a form for all you mods and the will email you 3 tunes. Just download them from your computer and upload to the car. Just do what the tuner tells you to do.

I'm very curious about this tuner, can't wait to get it, and would like some more input from other people also, just to verify that this tuner is the way to go?

that's the tuner i got, honestly before you try to narrow down weather this a computer issue or iac idle problem, you need to do something about the missing catalytic converter, your computer thinks they are there and they are not, i would get a tuner to account for that and then re-look at the issue. Another idea here is to look at vacuum hoses, just because your hoses are connected does not mean they are air tight. Recently a smoke test on my car revealed alot of leaks after the MAF which is very bad i fixed them and my car ran alot better all you need is some hose clamps and a little sealant

this one is specific for our cars, which one is better? this or the one a couple posts above?

I cleaned iac today, no difference, cars in garage probably till Thursday, and the tuner will take care of the cats, and im not checking for vacuum leaks, I feel dumb doing so, as i'm 99% positive It's what you said In your first post, which means I need a tuner...

The tuner will take care of the computer and the cats. It won't hurt anything to clean the IAC. But like F/H said download the tune first and see if that fixes everything first.

Will do, trust me, I have a decent amount of questions about tuners and how to go about getting a custom one but i'll ask bama some time.

Alright, update, got my car dyno'd at JD's performance and I was tellin myself in my head anything over 240hp i'd be happy and sure as ****, it put down 245hp, 293torque. Also the popping from the exhaust, I guess because I thought it was the offroad x pipe I didn't check things other than iac. But they found my mass air flow sensor was missing 2 bolts, the housing was cracked and apparently I was missing a spacer of some sort? Well got that fixed. Car's all good, next thing I know driving home shiftin around 3000-3200rpm, a 09 or 10 camry was following me, he was keepin up when I was steppin on it, he wasn't close exactly but when I kept lookin back he was still there haha :/
