and how do I determine the difference? My research has revealed these 4.6 and 5.4 supercharged Saleen's are prone to belt slippage. There is a fix which is an aftermarket tensioner. But is that the problem?

From my understanding to determine if it's clutch slippage be at a dead stop, put it in 3rd and let out the clutch. If it stalls the clutch is working properly. I tried that and it did stall. Is this a true and accurate test?

It seems to only occure in 3rd gear. Curising around 3k RPM and if I hammer the gas it takes a split second to get into power. I really haven't noticed my tack jumping around.

I don't hear the belt slipping or belt dust anywhere on the serpentine belt system. I have the Tremec TKO 600 with about 900 miles on the engine/trans.

Thoughts?

I have also heard to put it in 5th or 6th gear, whichever is your final drive gear, and put the gas down hard, and if the RPM's raise quick (without tire spin or gaining a lot of speed obviously) then that is another way to test.

If your clutch is slipping when you hammer on it your rpm will go up but you won't be going any faster

Ok, guys. I've tried that on a regular 45 mile an hour street and the tack didn't shoot up. I'll try it too on the highway this weekend and see what happens.

The way my trans and clutch is acting i'm inclined at this point to say the belt is slipping. Only reason I say that the tach is not jumping up so it probably is belt slippage.

It is my clutch. Cruising in 5th gear at 40 mph and I floor it and the tach jumps to 5500 rpm with no increase in speed.

The entire trans and clutch is brand new with about 900 miles on it. What happend? Why did I loose my clutch so soon?

Adjustment wrong, oil on clutch, bad install, or the wrong clutch for the combo.

Humm..
I bought the entire clutch kit from Ford Racing and I thought I bought the best components. Maybe not. I'm 100% sure there's no oil on the clutch. Prior to the clutch slipping, the pedal had some pretty good resistence. Now it seems easier to push in.

What could go wrong in a bad install? I had a custom hot rod shop install it.

Strange thing is, 1st and 2nd gear grabs just fine. It's 3rd, 4th and 5th gears that slip.

The problem was a simple cable adjustment at the fork. Prior to the cable adjustment the clutch was engaging at full pedal travel. Now that it's adjusted properly the engagement is halfway between the floor and fully extended, right where it's supposed to be.

The power's back and it sure is fun.

Good to hear it was a simple fix
